You know what I do when I find myself eating too much of something - I pour water over it, rendering it inedible. I've done it with pizza, cake, cereal you name it. It worked for me. I'm telling you the first 2 -3 weeks of this weightloss/change your life thing was so difficult I had to do anything to get past it - and I did. AND SO CAN YOU!!!!

And I'm sending you a big dose of

OH YEAH....every night when I'm not on plan.
It's creepy, and obsessive and when the bowl is empty, I get this sick feeling of disgust with myself. Does it stop me...no.

I feel like it's all about mindset though. I've been so damned mad at myself lately. I know I need to stop that. We can make no progress if we're busy being mad at ourselves!

Just wanted to let you know how much I relate to that feeling

Good luck with the gall bladder issues. I had mine out almost a year ago. I lived with the pain on an off for 8 mo. while doc thought it was GERD. I knew it wasn't. I'll never trust a doc again without asking loud insistent questions.

You know, I'm thinking about trying the breath strip trick when this happens, as it tends to do around Christmas with me and sugary foods. I can't seem to eat just one cookie (one piece of fudge, one of anything sugary) without eating more. So if I carry those breath strips around and stick one in my mouth after eating the cookie, maybe that will stop me from reaching out for another. Like rockinrobin, I also pour water over stuff when I find myself at home with a bowl of something, or I put it down the garbage disposal quickly.

Luminous, the first time stopping is the hardest, but once you know you can do it, you'll quit eating mindlessly more often. Will you be perfect? No, but nobody is. Two forward steps and one backwards step will still get you where you want to go in the end.
