Default Scale Watchers Tip From the Metric System

The metric system is based on a pretty logical premise that can help us put weight fluctuations into perspective.
Bear with me a minute.
One liter of water weighs one kilogram.
One liter is about a quart and one kilogram is about 2.2 lbs.
The mug of coffee I'm drinking is about 300 mls. Which is .3 of a kilogram or about 2/3 of a pound!
My favourite water bottle full is over a pound.
Now imagine a time when your feet, hands and face all feel a little puffy. Imagine how much water that is!
Remember 2frustrated talking about doing cardio until her chin drips in a puddle on the floor? That's a lot of water and water is heavy.
People laugh when we say we have to pee before we get on the scale but a good full bladder can hold over a pound of water.
Keep this all in mind when you see a scale fluctuation of a 1/2 or 2 lbs. especially if it was quick.
Pardon the pun but that's hardly a drop in the bucket when it comes to the huge percentage of a what human being is made of.

Yes I agree with Susan. Or if "overnite" the scale jumps up 3-5 pounds! That is not a legitimate weight that is water retention! It takes an EXTRA 3500 calories higher than you're "maintenance calories" to gain a pound! So add your "maintenance cals from the day before PLUS an extra 3500 x however many pounds. There is no way in heck! Now I do agree that sometimes you can really over do it and maybe gain a pound the next day with really bad eating. But that would have to be 3500 EXTRA of really bad eating. Some bad foods just stick to ya.

Anyhow along the lines of water of peeing before weighing, do NOT forget to be drinking plenty of water every day! That helps your organs to function and really helps with weightloss!
