Cool Hot & Healthy Challenge Chicks!!! (Everyone is welcome!)

Hello!!! Some of us girls were in challenges together and we all liked each other so much and were so supportive of each other that we wanted to continue that beyond just a turkey or x~mas challenge. Support and friendship is something we all need no matter what the season! So we decided to start a group!

Who can join this group?

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join! We are a very supportive group and we talk about life in general as well as exercise and eating.

What is this group about?

This group is about supporting each other to be healthy and to exercise! We need to remind ourselves that at whatever size we are, we are hot! And we challenge each other to be healthy which means eating right and exercising.

Everyone is welcome to join us! At the beginning of the month we can state our goal for the month whether it is losing a few pounds, changing some bad habits, or just all around maintaining! Come on in! We'd love to have ya!!

Hi Mia! Grab your intro from the other thread and bring it here.

Everyone come in and give an intro of yourself. It can be brief or long. In addition,

1. Leave your starting weight.
2. List what type of exercise you will do daily to achieve your goal.
3. List how you will be watching your food, i.e. low carbs, calorie counting, etc
4. Check back in each day to share your progress of if you exercised, share the food you have eaten, etc.
5. Weekly weigh in. We will weigh in every week to see where we are!!

Good luck everyone!

Okay so I am 31. I have been on this weight loss journey 17 months! I did have to take a big break in the middle for a few months because of health concerns, etc but I maintained and am back on the track to losing ever since April 24, 2006. Anyhow this is not a "diet" to me, it is a healthy lifestyle. I am 31, recently remarried to a wonderful man who treats me like a princess and loves my 5 kiddos too. If you need any help or advice just ask.

1. 214

2. I will walk 60 - 100 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I want to get to at least 1800 every month. I am further than that this month so I know I can do it!

3. I will be calorie counting. Most days will be 1400-1800, with maybe two "bad days". I want to average 1550-1650 cals a day

I have a goal to lose 7 pounds by Christmas and I could really use the support. I will have been dieting 3 weeks on Saturday and haven't lost anything! On a good note, I thought I did pretty good today all things consider.

Hello! We are glad to have you! Well one thing you do need to remember is that the less you weigh the harder it is to lose. That can be rough! WHat kind of plan are you following with food and exercise. Remember that if you do not get enough food your body also will not let you lose. Another thing with exercising is that sometimes we build muscle and may be losing fat but not see it on the scale. Remember to drink your water!!

thank you for the welcome everyone
alittle about me....my name is mia and im 26 i have an 8month old daughter, married, my hubby just got out the military so we moved back to his hometown and trying to adjust to life without the military,i just started a new job as an orthodontist assistant....the strain of the long hours at work and moving to a new place away from all my family and trying to lose weight is so stressful, but i do not like to fail and i refuse to fail at trying to lose weight. I no longer set short term goals as far as x many pounds by ? month, i only become discouraged when i do not meet my target, so i know i would like to get to 170(first). Right now as long as long as i lose some weight instead of none is great to me, i also want this as a lifestyle change not just to lose weight and then go back to my old ways. So i want to focus on water 64+oz,exercise 4-5 days a week, and as far as diet i want to eat wisely while allowing myself to eat what i want maybe 2x a week to start then work my way to 1x and eventually to none. Im not sure if this plan will work for me but trying to cut everything out at once is not working at all. Do anyone have any ideas?

sorry so long the way i see it as long as im on the pc im not at the table

1 starting weight-228
2 exercise i WILL do-tubo jam, billy blanks and other videos also from time to time elliptical
3 fruits, protien, good carbs, limit sugar, and whole grains
4 ill have a daily report card of how i did for the day
5 things to concentrate on right now- exercise, water, sugar
6. weigh in-fridays

Mia that must be rough trying to balance work and hubby and your daughter! You can do it though with some careful planning. Plan to take a healthy snack and lunch to work! How tall are you?

1. Weight - 155
2. Exercise bike
3. Counting calories
4. Not sure if I will ride today
5. I hate weigh ins...I get so depressed

I started taking xenical almost three weeks ago. That is going really well for me. My big problem, I binge eat Very frustrating. I have lots of stress in my life especially with my job and family. I have not been consistent with exercise either, but I am really going to concentrate on it.

Well, in my extra-comfy bra (that's actually a million cups too small, but so stretched out now that you can't tell!) it's about the same. LOL But, in my good bra (which I actually had a professional fitting for and everything) I'm no longer totally filling out the cups. I hardly ever wear THAT bra, because I hate it, so I just realized this about two weeks ago. Just one more thing I am going to have to spend money on at x-mas time. Blah! But, I can't compain too much. At least it means that some part of me is getting a little smaller. lol
That is good! Well I am sure you are losing inches too. That is one thing I noticed these past few months was my bra, used to be on the loosest, all of them and now they are on the tightest! Also where you adjust the straps had to decrease. I need some new ones soon too!

Gained it back + alot more
That is why I am focusing this on eating healthy and exercising, not being on a "diet". If you quit doing what you did to get there and fall into old bad habits it is easy to regain PLUS more!
That is why it has taken me so long to lose what I have because I have been making lifestyle changes. Changes I don't mind living with the rest of my life. That is why i will still splurge and go out to eat once a week, have that desert every now and then. Have a few "ordinary meals" thruout the week, etc.

I've found that with the free meals, it's been easier to keep on track. I know that if I'm craving something, I can have it at some point. That way it's not like I'm cutting things out of my life forever. I know that some people have to do that, but I don't see it as realistic for me.
I am the same way.

Jasmine: I read you all too loud and clear. Growing up, my family was really poor. My dad was a single father with 2 daughters and 2 twin sons. He did an amazing job to keep us happy and I didn't know we were really poor until Junior High School. Growing up, counselors used to always ask me if my dad was touching me inappropriately, etc. As if because he is a man, and a single father, he would ever do that?! People can be FAR TOO presumptuous. It has always bothered me, and always will. The way I see it is you have 2 options. You can either talk to the school, make sure they understand your son's habits and situation, or you can not say anything. It all depends on your comfort level. I'm the type of person that will jump right in there and be like, "Assuming makes an *** out of U and Me. Got it?" Haha, but I'm a little b*tch!
Thanx hun for all the support! I am just tired of all the crap around here. It got even worse tonite! Some kids even tried to kick our door in tonite while we were home and I was trying to do my pilates vidoe and Joe was watching me. Anyhow we thought one of our kids was goofing off and Joe ran out and it was some kids who knocked the door jamb and part of it broke and our miniblinds fell off the wall and it broke the metal piece too! He was really mad and took off and tried to chase them down in his robe and bare feet! We just need to get the heck out of here. The house is nice and is only 16 years old, 4 bedroom 2 bath in what used to be a decent neighborhood!! The last two years all the bad people from down the hill are moving up here. We even had our house broken into last x~mas and our kids playstation and a few games were stolen!!

Quote:
I also feel your pain with the babies and the stroller and the potatoes. My sister and her husband used to have a physically abusive relationship (I'm glad to report that he has quit drinking, and really seems to be the model father... although I am still eyeballing him, and am ready to spring back in to action if need be), so she spent a lot of time in the women shelters. I went and "lived" with her there (aka: spent the night 6 nights a week). She worked full time trying to make a better life for her and her daughter, so I would take Alysia (my baby angel) to daycare, go to work, pick her up, feed her, and walk the floor with her all night when she couldn't sleep. I wouldn't do anything different, I enjoy the bond we share However, living in the big city, taking a stroller on the bus during rush hour, the drivers more often than not made me HOLD HER STANDING UP while the stroller was folded. No one ever gave up there seat, so here I am on a packed bus, balancing a 1 1/2 year old, a folded stroller, a diaper bag, and my own backpack, all the while on my feet. Grrrrr. I hope the potatoes taste good! Hehehe. I would offer you my car, but I don't have a license, let alone a car
Awww so you know what a hassle it can be. Most of the time I do not mind going on the bus. Like when we lost the car I try to look on the bright side of stuff and I told my hubby it is near the bus, his work , so at least he won't lose his job. But sometimes it is just annoying. *sigh* His moral with the company is really going down the drain since he is underappreciated and overworked etc. So I try to go out and see him on his lunch breaks and get him in the evening cause otherwise we would spend like 12 hours apart cause of these buses and it really helps to keep the smile on his face.

Thanx for understanding and all the support hun. We are either moving to Mt when we get our taxes in the spring or we are going to get another van or car if the court says we have to stay.

Quote:
I feel that a support group is REALLY important. To me, my support group is my safety net. They are 99% of the reason I bounce back after a slip up. And you can trust in us more You guys are 98% of my support (my MIL is the other 2%). I come here, and rely on all of you to keep me going! We aren't leaving after the challenge ends! I am already geared with my sig tracker ready for the next one (which I fondly refer to as the Fat Smash Xmas Bash!, after it was suggested by one of the ladies here, hehe). I love coming here, and you especially are one of my favs! Even if I some day reach my goal, I will still be here day in, and day out, because I NEED you guys . I hope that helps
I agree with all of that! That is what our next challenge(that will take place inside of our new home thread) will be called!! I need you guys too!

Quote:
MIL bought us an early present A tempur pedic mattress topper. We wanted to get the bed, and this will totally do until then! It's really comfy! The normal spring mattress hurt my hips so bad, but I slept like a baby last night!
That is great news!!!

Quote:
Jasmine: Also with the crunches, I tried them on the floor onces, and it killed my tailbone, hips, and lower back! So I folded a bed comforter in half, and used that. Recently I purchased a cheap Yoga Mat from Wal-Mart. That works a bit better than the comforter, but the comforter always made it much easier than the bare floor! We have all tile and hardwood . As for the stretchy band, you are right. It's for resistance training. The difference between resistance training and weight lifting is:
Resistance training: tones muscles without adding a whole lot of bulk
Weight training: primarily used to increase muscle mass rather than tone muscle mass
Doing lighter weights with more repetitions will give a smoother more toned look. Doing heavier weights with less repetitions will give you a more bulkier muscle.
Thanx for the info sweetie!!! I tried doing my pilates for dummies tonite! haha I also have an 8 minute abs crunch thing I started doing tonite. I think I will try that one for sure every day.

I will finish this post later. Got to run!!

Hello ladies!
Nice to meet youannand mia.

Let's see...I'm new to this dieting business or maybe I should say I'm new to healthy eating habits. I found this site a couple of months ago and have lost 11 pounds. I have started exercising and am working on incorporating better eating habits into my life as well as my family's.
1. 260
2. Work on being consistant at having 90 minutes of exercise 5x week.
3. Water intake to be at least 8-8oz glasses 5x week.
4. Take vitamins at least 5x week.
5. Not sure what diet plan to follow but will work on limiting calories to 1200-1500 and use whole foods, low fat, lower carbs, more veggies.
6. Work on limiting coffee intake.
7. And because I've gotten myself into a funk I will be working on Positive thinking this challenge.

Hey guys! Welcome to all the newcomers! We are so happy to have you guys! The more, the merrier, right?!

Just sneaking on for a quick second between packing. We had a blizzard yesterday, but looks like everything is clear to drive out today, so I get to see my mum. Yay!!!

I will be back Sunday night, so I will be MIA for a few days. I will miss all of you!

For those of you who don't know:
My name is Amanda (aka: Mande). I'm 23, and I started at 279lbs. With the help and support of this great network of ladies, I managed to lose a total of 7.8lbs in about 3 weeks. My motivation is not vanity or monetary driven. It's all about my wedding next year, and my own health. I want to live a long and healthy life, and I want to be around longer for my DF (Shaun) and our future children.

I am a calorie-counter (thanks to the lovely Jasmine that introduced me to it). So far I have removed empty calories and processed foods from my diet. I hope to eventually remove meat (gotta love the protein content in tofu and soy!). My cal intake varies from 1400-1800 (give or take a couple calories). I plan all of my meals in advance to help structure, and to ward off any slip-ups. I hope to lose anywhere from 10-15lbs by Christmas, but will be happy with whatever my body offers to me.
Oh, and I live in northern Canada, and complain about the snow all the time!
I go to the gym 3x a week, I walk 5-7 days a week, and I do calisthenics. I just recently purchased a Bally Ball w/ weights and a resistance band.

I love photography, digital art, and poetry/prose. If you ever want a fancy icon made for you for 3FC (or anything else), I am the gal to ask! I do it all for free with no credit to me required! I just love creating!

Well, I have to go pack (poo). I will see all of you lovely ladies on Sunday. I will redo my signature at that time.

Sugar: I will have your new icon for you then as well!!

Hope you all had a great TG. Here's to Christmas!

-Mande

P.S. I thought of a neat 'challenge' for between Christmas and New Years. Once we hit Christmas, we should make a sort of challenge to maintain for those 5 days, then start a new challenge on Jan 1st. Thoughts?
