Default The TGIF Chat!

Good Morning! It's FRIDAY, the best day of the work week!

I only have time for a quick chat, busy morning ahead. After Curves I'm stopping in at Mom & Dad's to wish my mother a happy birthday. She's diabetic, so I baked her a special SF cheesecake for her birthday cake. She really misses sweets, so I know she'll enjoy it. Then it's on to the bank, and getting a few errands done before it's time to pick up the girls from school. I'll try to peek in later if I get the chance.

Ruth, I hope you're feeling much better today!

Mornin' Cottage and everyone else. Absolutely right - Friday is the best day of the work week!!!

Happy Birthday to Cottage's mom!
Ruth, hope you're still feeling better this morning.

Not much going on at work today, but I'm going to an Occasions party tonight. Anyone else heard of these guys yet? I know they're fairly new. It's a Swiss Colony company, and their stuff looks like a combo of Southern Living and Tastefully Simple - home and food products. I've been to one party already and they do have nice stuff.

Just playing catch up over the weekend. Need to make a list of all the home projects that I've been putting off and just dive in.

Gotta go tank up on coffee and be on my merry way. Y'all have a great day!

Good morning, Chipper Chickies! Quick post for now as I need to be outta here in 15 mins and NOT in my pink robe!

Feeling more chipper this morning, thanks for asking. I think I headed it off at the pass with my regime. There's not a sign of a cold this morning. (Sometimes I think it's just an allergy!)

This morning I take Harry to the hospital for MRI, ultra-sound and Xrays. He is now in a wheelchair instead of a walker so I have one of the staff from the Home coming with me to do the transfers. I hope we get the results fast so we can plan the next steps for the poor guy. The doc is pretty sure it's cancer but.....he could be wrong!

Anyhow, life (and dieting) goes on! I'll try to pop back in this afternoon.

Morning Chicadoodles!!!!! Ruthie may not be in her Pink robe but I am ! Well, not in her's..but my bright FUSCHIA one! Tis 35 frosty degrees here this morn! I had a SBD pizza fer dinner last night, not sure if that is why I woke up with a bloated bed scarred face!

Chellez: on that 10 pounds!!!!! U ROCK! Sorry to hear that the school saga continues--hopefully everything will get straightened out soon. The colors here are just brilliant! Especially set against the bright blue sky! I so enjoy autumn and getting to watch the trees change when I walk the doggies in the morn!

Kaity: What class are you having a test in?

Kim: You're doing GREAT with that exercise!! Mountains in Texas?? I've only been to Houston and Dallas areas where the only mountains are the highway overpasses!

Sarah! WOW just look how far you've come since joining Fat chicks You run marathons now!!!

:Ruth: You always bounce back so fast! Must be that Delta air and water up there!

Cottage: Have a great day!!!

Barb: Are you all pack up for your camp out??

Jana: hmmm never heard of Occassions...do they have a web site ?? I've let my house go this past week...it looks like a Crack den... so I'll be cleaning this weekend too.

Time to fill up my cawfee tank and get to school. Tonight we may be going out to a new Italian restaurant with some friends... m.u.s.t. s.t.a.y a.w.a.y from the Bread ...have a GAREEEEAAAAT DAY !!!!

Schatzi - Half marathon, but a marathon some day! But thanks, and I am amazed that my body is able to do what it does especially since I used to HATE running! I really like the DB pizzas, and good luck with the italian!

Hey Ruth - Glad you are feeling better, saying a prayer for you and Harry right now!

Jana - Never heard of an occasions party but that does sound fun!

Cottage - I bet that cake's delicious!

Rest of the chicks have a great day!

Oh and me - Man I gotta learn to stay away from Mexican food as chips and salsa are a SERIOUS weakness for me! I told my friend "no mexican food" and what did we end up eating? MEXICAN FOOD! Oh well, worked out a lot yesterday so I think it all balanced out but I want to lose not maintain!

Good morning ladies!!

Sarah -- I've told everyone that I hate Mexican food to the extent that it makes me sick! Works like a charm every time! (I'll eat it, but it's not ever my first pick.) I avoid all the cals!!

Schatzi - Yep, mountains in Texas! There's the Chisos, Christmas, Davis, and lots others that run from Mexico to New Mexico. Alpine's (where I live) elevation is 4400 ft. and the highest peak here is Guadalupe that's just under 9,000 feet. Not too tall, but they make for great scenery and hiking. I LOVE IT HERE!! Teehee, you with your bright fuschia robe and your bloated face must have been a hilarious sight!!

Ruth - Glad you're not sickie! Hope Harry's tests bring you and the docs the answers needed to move forward -- and quickly!!

Jana - Wanna come work on some of my projects, too? Hahaha! That Occasions party sounds interesting - let us know what you get!

Cottage - Do ya think you could pass on that cheesecake recipe? Sounds delicious!!

ME - Terrible day at work yesterday! Was berated and cussed at by a coworker who disagreed with my interpretation of state law. The disagreement would've been fine if she's ever read that state law, but the cussing and berating is not. (She's nowhere near my superior!!) Going to try to clear things up with boss-man, but I am questioning my employment here, even in spite of being top of the list for the promo. It's going to be a tough day!!

I finished all my errands quicker than I thought. Thanks for wishing my mother a happy birthday. She and my dad sampled a piece of cake, and they loved it. They said they couldn't believe it was made with Splenda and nonfat cheese, it tastes just as rich as the real thing.

Did anyone watch Ophrah's show yesterday? Apparently it was a good one, with a lot of expert advice about dieting and staying healthy. I sure wish I had watched it, but TV is rarely on during the day, with the little ones around. Maybe I can find something about it on her website.

Ruth, I'm hoping that Harry's doctor visit goes well, and that the news isn't bad. Glad you're feeling better.

Schatzi, back in school? What are you studying? Enjoy your Italian dinner tonight!

Jana, I've gone a few Occasions parties, they have some nice stuff! Have fun, maybe you can get some Christmas shopping done there.

Sarahslacker, I love Mexican food, too! My downfall is the cheesy topping on everything. At least you had a good workout to balance things!

Kim, so sorry about your bad day yesterday. Try not to let it get to you, you know you were doing the right thing. I hope today is a better one for you. I'll try to post that Cheesecake recipe this weekend.

Good morning everyone!

Well, I have my big test today. It's in Artistic Traditions of the Southwest. I'm going to have trouble remembering all of the dates but for the essays I just need to remember some basic concepts: colonialism bad, tourists stupid, and photographers are manipulaters. Shouldn't be too hard. This morning I had my first cup of caffinated coffee in months and I'm kind of shaking. Is that a bad sign?

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys their day and, for those of you who haven't been having such a good time (and it seems like there are a few of you), I hope everything gets better.

Kim - I've hiked out a Big Bend, but always wanted to hike Guadalupe Peak... Too bad it takes me 8 hours to get out there from Austin!

Sarah - I know!! My parents live in Leander and I hate that drive. I-10 is SO boring!! I have to go to downtown Austin (the Omni) the week of the 12th of this month and I'm NOT looking forward to the drive to get there! (At least I get to spend time with my family!)

I still haven't seen Guadalupe, it's quite a bit north of us. DH has seen it, but we'd love to go camp and hike there eventually. Growing up in San Antonio, it's so weird that I can drive to NM in 3 hours!!

I am all packed and just need to load stuff in the car once I get gas and pick up Brian. The cooler will have to wait until tomorrow morning but I have all the cheese and sausage sliced up and ready to go in it. The weather forecast is looking better for Athens. There is less chance of rain now (about 10%) and it doesn't look like it will be too cold either.

Have a great time on your camping trip, Barb. I'm glad your weather is looking better for it.

Chellez, thanks for the link to that website!
