Question Ab Exercise Question

I had abdomonal surgery in February, and I have alot of trouble doing exercises that focus in that area (ie: crunches, sit-ups, etc) it just gives me so much pain afterwards...I talk to my doc about it and he said I'll always have trouble with things like that.... NOT HELPFUL! So I need some suggestions of other things I could do to help my ab muscles....

Can you incorporate standing or kneeling on either side of a bosu ball into your workouts? Use a stability ball instead of a weight bench? Use balance discs? These gym toys force you to use your ab muscles more while you are doing something else- like curls or shoulder presses. Your core muscles (both abs, obliques and back) hold you up and help you to balance so they get an extra workout when you are on a wobbly surface.

One good ab exercise that i have just started is standing while bending your knees to about 50 degrees and and pivoting while your body remains centered. Just twisting your waist, you can add 25 pound weight to this for more efficiency. I hope I described it well, Billy Blanks does a similar exercise or exact exercise which you can find in billy boot camp. Goodluck . It will help your obliques especially
