Default success!

Tonight I had to attend my brother in law's birthday party. I knew there would be lots of wine, lots of good food, and of course cake. I wanted no part of any of it.

So, I read lots of OA literature today. I talked with my sponsor. I prayed. I ate dinner before I went, and showed up late purposely. I had no desire to eat while I was there. I even took my own diet pepsi so that I would have something to drink. Then, I went home.

I successfully stayed abstinent, stayed in my food plan, and didn't binge.

Feels great.

Thanks guys! I was thinking about it again today. I am still awed by the feeling of total disinterest in filet mignon and ice cream cake. It's truly miraculous that I could be surrounded by people eating wonderful things, and not want it, not be angry that I'm not eating it, not feel left out, not feel discouraged...no negative feelings at all. And, I'm feeling pretty good that I didn't allow a difficult social situation be an excuse to break my abstinence or my food plan.

Marny,
What an amazing accomplishment! I am still at a point where walking into the grocery store is problematic, so I am just in awe of your accomplishment!!

It's all because of the steps, my higher power--God, and reaching out for support. Hurray!
