Default Something interesting about fruit and ketosis

I figured when I started eating fruits that my body would freak and I'd gain weight.

BUT, the opposite has happened!! I'm in deeper ketosis then I've ever been and the fruit I'm eating has curbed ALL the sweet cravings that I used to have.

Granted I am not eating a lot of fruit, 5 strawberries, 5 grapes and 1/2 an apple count as a serving for me right now.

But I really think that's interesting and wanted to share for those who were like me and were terrified to splurge on some fruit.

Thanks for sharing that Lacey. I've been eating berries for a long time and I agree it doesn't interefere with ketosis. Not grapes, they are pretty high in sugar, but strawberries, blueberries, blackberries etc.

I eat strawberries pretty much every day. I also eat raspberries and 1/2 an apple. My body says it wants the fruit.

Great info Lacey. I eat strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. They always curb my sweet tooth. But I wasn't sure what they were doing to my weight loss. Maybe nothing.....that's what I hope.

I have eaten some fruit since completing the first 2 weeks. This has included grapes, strawberries, oranges, cantalope, watermelon and fresh pineapple. If I crave anything sweet, fruit will take care of the craving. I have lost weight very well, even with the fruit. I always include it in my daily carb count. I don't think fruit is what made me fat, it is healthy food . I think that pacifying a craving with fruit is sensible and shows a better loss for me than if I have a sweet treat with lots of sugar alcohols in it.

I think pineapple is very sweet, probably would mess up ketosis for most of us. But I think I read that there is something in pineapple that is very good for you. Can't remember if it is supposed to help speed up your thyroid or what, but it was something like that. I guess all you could do is try it and see what effect it has.

I could eat an entire pineapple in one sitting! Man I love them. I think this week i'll incorp some berries into my morning protien shake. The strawberries look wonderful, and it would be nice to taste them again.

I'm down another pound as of this morning, but i'm not going to change the ticker just yet. Maybe having the berries will help me along further.

Thanks for sharing your observation Lacey!
