Default Weightlifting ?'s

Hello ladies! I have some questions about lifting weights and was wondering if you guys could give me a hand

I am completely in the dark about weight lifting. I like the idea of toning up and gaining more muscle mass but I suppose I have grown up with the attitude that weight lifting was for men and aerobics is for women which I know is completely wrong

I don't have a gym membership right now; I do most of my exercising on my bike and in the stairs of my apartment, but I do have free weights! I have a set of 2,5 and 10 pound weights. But I have no idea how to use them! or which I should use!

If someone could give me some helpful info or links or wisdom that would be great! Thanks a lot!

Getting some videos will really help you understand the form better than pictures and for me they are a lot more motivating.

I would recomend Kathy Smith's Lift Weights to Lose Weight or Project You or if you don't like Kathy the FIRM Basics series (Fat Burning, Abs, Buns and Thighs, Sculpting with Weights)

there is a basic dub bell routine here.

Found this at:

thought it was good info-
Cardio and Weight Training
The best way to incorporate cardio into your training is to do it in a completely different session then your weight training. If you plan on doing both weights and cardio in the same session, do the weights first. There are two major reasons for this:

First, doing cardio before weights will pre-fatigue your muscles, limiting your weight training. Doing cardio after weights will not.
Second, weight training will serve as a sort of pre-exhaust for cardio; lowering your blood sugar and allowing you to burn fat immediately after you start cardio. If you do cardio first, it will take about 20 minutes before you really start to burn fat.

Just remember to gain muscle -- lift heavy .. AND make sure you have enough protein and carbs (and fats) to build muscle..
