Laurel:
introducing
lala's culturally diverse food dictionary
crocantini: basically flat bread, crackers flavored with rosemary
made by a local artisanal bakery in the seattle area. The rosemary
is an interesting combo w/peanut butter. Good for what ails you
and a bargain at one serving (who can eat just one) at
120 cals or 2.5 pts.
schiuschelle (I can never spell it correctly): is a type of spice cookie that is made by the same bakery, la panzanella. It is a special family recipe and the owner, ciro, won't give it out. It is as far as I can tell, basically, a cookie version of lala's favorite pain d'epices=spice bread. It has slivered almond, strong flour, ginger, nutmeg, sugar, eggs and candied orange. No butter. It is delightful and low in pts.
squeakers: gosh, they don't make cheese in New Joisey. Squeakers are cheese curds. DP was on the oregon coast this weekend and brought home some. They are evil, because they
are cheese, they appear not to be greasy, they squeak when you eat them and you can pop them in your mouth like popcorn. I was so happy to give a package to my dear friend who hails from
wisconsin and loves a good squeaker when she sees one.
she is of course, 5'5" and weighs about 105lbs dripping wet
.
so, i hope i cleared some of the mysteries up.
sigh. now to go home to my 4 remaining points for the day.
