Default Hair loss

Is anyone experiencing hair loss from weight loss? If so, what did you do?

I worked for a weight loss center and I had my clients take Flax oil, liquid minerals, and MSM. In our training we were taught that weight loss causes estrogen levels to get off balanced, as in pregnancy. Hope this helps!!

This may not be exactly the same issue, but I also have had significant hairloss/thining happen. Turns out that my weight caused hormonal imbalances which resulted in having a kind of period for over 6 months solid. This resulted in my iron stores being extremely low. One of the things iron effects is your hair. I am now on iron supplements and hoping it will resolve itself but since hair grows in 120 day cycles, its a slow process . Anyway, my doctor sent me to a skin specialist about the hair loss, so it might be an idea for you to see one if its affordable where you are from.

I've lost hair without being on a diet, maybe due to age or heredity, who knows, but losing hair with weight loss may be a lack of certain vitamins when your dieting, I don't know about other people but to be sure that I'm getting enough vitamins in my diet I take a daily vitamin, just to be sure that I'm losing the weight healthy. And mind you I'm no expert, just giving a little advice.

SJD- I am noticing my hair is coming out a lot more than usual too. I have to ask my dr about it when I go in for my check up on my thyroid, since it can be related to that also....grrrr Here we try to get healthy and end up dealing with a bunch of junk along the way...oh well, hopefully it will stop happening.

Well, I take a prenatal vitamin and a mulitvitamin. My eating is okay most of the time. When I was at my heaviest, my hair was in its best shape. When I was my smallest, my hair became very thin. Now that I'm in the middle, my hair is breaking in some places and growing in others (if that makes sense!). I've only been taking the vitamins for about 5 months and I have noticed a difference in my nails (they're growing!). I think I'm going to shave it all off and wear wigs! Just kidding!
