Hey I was looking at velform sauna belt, 6 sec abs, and ad lounge, I was wondering if anyone has tried any of these products, and if so how have they worked for you?
Sauna Belt - that's an old scam that comes out every few years. I googled and found an ad for it that says it "helps you to sweat away unwanted fat, eliminate cellulite, lose weight and ease muscle pain – all while sitting in the comfort of your own home...focuses the sauna heat on the most problematic body parts to help flush out and eliminate toxins"
Basically, all you're doing is sweating away WATER - *NOT* fat or cellulite (which is just fat anyway). Any weight lost using this device will come back as soon as you drink water.
6 Second Abs and Ab Lounge are two devices that are supposed to get everyone that six pack they want. Rather than purchasing these gadgets - there are an INFINITE amount of abdominal exercises that you can do for *free* using just your body weight or something like a medicine ball (or give Pilates and/or Yoga a try!)
Besides, to get smaller abs, what's REALLY required is to watch your calories - as has been said many times in our Ladies who Lift forum "Abs Begin in the Kitchen".
If you *must* buy one of these items, I advise checking eBay or Craigslist.org (or your local penny saver) for a deal on a USED one. Why get taken for the entire price?
Sauna belt idea--you can make a do it yourself version! My sisters and I grew up with horses and with horses you sometimes "sweat their neck"--truly the same idea as the sauna belt--before a show (for a conformation kind of judging when the neck size matters). ANYway...my sisters and I were known on occasion to try this out on our waists using large, sweaty volumes of plastic garbage bags.
Hmmm...yes....the experiment was just about as successful as it sounds. As in...NOT.

Just want to reiterate this. Think about it logically for a minute. There's nothing you can do with these things that you cannot do yourself...though I suppose when you give up trying to get into shape with the Ab Lounger, you can use it as a chair...

LOL...we have to do that sometimes with our horses too...some of them get really chubby in the off season (my trainer shows on the Arabian circuit BTW).
I remember back in the 1970's Cosmo used to run articles about 'slimming your waist' using Saran wrap and (if memory serves) Vasoline or Vicks VapoRub...I can only imagine the mess!!!
Actually, I was watching one of those FITTV shows.....(called HOusecalls, where the trainers come to your home, give you a workout routine and clean your fridge, cupboards; replacing with healthy foods or it was the ABC show I forget which one) and they gave the family home equipment to use...one of the purchases was the Ab Lounge... I was surprised about that one.
You would have to check, but Ab Lounge might have gotten some sort of endorsement from one of the health magazines, maybe Prevention?
please correct me if I'm wrong, but I do remember seeing *something*

Hmm, I seem to remember a circa 1970s book advocating meeting your husband at the door wearing nothing but Saran Wrap! Oh, the things Johnson & Johnson never expected their product to be used for...
I, too, watch Fit TV (I switched from watching Food Network -- amazing what that little thing does! LOL) And I was watching a show called (paraphrased) -- Fitness Gadgets from the past 50 yrs...
Anyway, there was an Asian chick who had done a spread for Maxim about Ab machines, etc...and she gave the scoop for what worked and what didn't. She said that of everything she tired, she really liked the Ab Rocker, I believe is what it's called? She said it really worked that muscle.
Just something to think about if you really HAVE to have a machine, ya know?

I just have to say that, in a moment of weakness, I purchased the six second abs. Don't waste your money. Yeah, it's a good ab workout, but my abs got lots stronger through pilates and some moves that my trainer taught me. You can probably find lots of good ideas online. Try shape.com, or prevention.com, perhaps.
I have a six pack, I know it. It's just hiding underneath this temporary layer!
I'm curious about the ab lounge, too, though not curious enough to actually spend money on it that the store might not refund. I just think it might make ab work more fun and comfortable for me as I have some problems with my spine and neck. I just sort of like the idea of having that thing in the living room ... doing a few crunches and maybe taking a nap!
Coming from someone who has scoliosis...I get a lot of use out of my yoga/stability ball (well, I did until my toddler stabbed it to death with a pencil ) for crunches. I can get a lot more done resting on it than laying on a mat. And the bonus there is you can use it while in labor too, though trust me when I say it doesn't help much with posterior presentations.
