Question Short Term Goals?

I noticed a lot of people on this site set short term goals for themselves and work towards that goal instead of the big 105 pound loss. (My main weight loss goal.) I have read that this helps work towards achieving your final weight loss. My question is how do you know what to set? Is it like a 10% of your actual weight or 10% percent of the amoutn you have to lose? I weigh 260 and I know looking at 26 pounds as a first goal might be a little daunting if I choose 10% of my weight.

Would 15 pounds gone by say March 1 be a good one/realistic one? I would like to fit into last years clothes for this summer vacation.

Default Short Term Goals.

Your goal sounds great! The first 10% slides off the easiest and you will be envigorated by how much better you feel after that first 10% is gone.

Good luck with your goals! One thing is that even though reaching your goals in a year seems daunting, realize that the year will pass anyways and you will feel much better if you have stuck with it after that year is up.

I think the 15 pound goal sounds about right too. My "official" goals average about 1.5 pounds per week. You want to set something that is reasonably achievable and will help you push a little bit :-) I actually set weekly goals for myself too (whether 1 pound or 2 or even maintaining--it depends on my Aunt flo schedule because I KNOW when I'm going to be dealing with pounds and pounds of water showing up on the scale). If I make a week's goal, then I usually have some little treat that I go get, like something from Bath & Body or a book that I've been wanting or a pedicure. I find the little weekly goals helpful as well as the monthly/longer term goals.

Good luck!

The goal sounds good to me Nice and healthy! hehe

I usually just set my small goals to 10 pounds. Which is a small number for me and it does help. I usually set my 10 pound goal for like 6 weeks or 7 weeks. Something good and healthy. It does end up helping in the end though

I used to set goals in the beginning, usually as part of challenges on 3FC. But, as my weight loss slowed down, I couldn't make my targets anymore, so now I set ones without dates. My main bugbear is trying to get under 199, it's just not happening, hence no weights appear on my ticker at the moment. Once I have slayed that particular beast, I'll start displaying my weight again.

Just do whatever works for you, what you do now, probably won't be what you do in six months time!!!

Best of luck setting and meetingyour goal, you go girl!!!

I am looking at losing about 10 pounds a month.

Right now, I am hoping to be at 290 at the end of January.

Everyone, take care.
