Sorry to hear of your health scare. I also had been diagnosed with hypertension, CHF and diabetes. With the wt. loss, everything is tremendously better. I'm now totally off the diuretics, My blood sugar has went from 600 to 100 and I now take 1/2 of a blood pressure pill daily instead of the 8 blood pressure pills I was taking. So, it can be done. My feet and hands used to swell horribly and now I have to buy "narrow" shoes and I can't keep my rings from falling off. I thank God everyday for restoring my health and prolonging my life. Before, I wasn't living, I was just waiting to die. It is certainly not to late, for you to become healthy once again. Hugs.

That was beautiful, Lilybelle...I'm so happy to see that those things can change, even when things look hopeless.

Hi gals--want to give you an update.

I saw the cardiologist yesterday. Mainly the visit was to talk and to do some basic examining. He told me my blood work did not show any problems--liver, kidney and thyroid functions are good. The only thing that may be questionable is my blood sugar. The blood was drawn about 2 hrs after I had breakfast and was 160. My urinalysis showed my glucose to be 500, which is alot of sugar into the urine.

So far the diuretics are working fairly well. I'll be seeing my primary doctor this Tuesday, and back to the cardiologist the following Tuesday for an EKG. I'm hoping I won't have to go through a stress test (they sound really scary!!).

So in summary, nothing has shown in the tests thus far. I'll just keep my appointments and take things a step at a time. The cardiologist did stress the importance of losing some weight to help my overall health. I've seen so much evidence right here on 3FC that it works, even just losing 10% will yield some results.

Thanks to you all for your support and concern.

I really appreciate this post. So many go for so long convincing themselves there are no real problems (focused on the vanity of it all) until its too late. Hopefully you have touched someone who wouldn't have realized otherwise.

Jen - I am so glad to hear that test results so far are positive. I am sorry to hear that you have been having these issues, but glad that you are doing something about them now.

Jen, so glad to hear so far, so good. It is wonderful that you are taking care of this. You can turn this around. You absolutely can. My fingers, toes and eyes are crossed for you. Please keep us posted. We'll all be sending positive thoughts your way.

I'm so glad that the bloodwork was okay. Are you going to have a fasting blood glucose test done? That's supposed to be a better indicator, I believe.

You can turn your health around, Jen. We know you can do it.

Jen -- I am not happy to hear about your situation, but so glad you are posting and that the news is looking a little better.

Jen415 12-04-2006 12:37 PM

Thanks for all the support! Tomorrow I will see my PCP and do a fasting blood glucose test this time. If nothing else, I could be pre-diabetic, which is way too close for me!

I'll let you know...

 Waiting for the news, and sending you :goodvibes: and
