Things You Do Now That You've Lost Some Weight

I like to revisit this topic as I lose weight because I see such a difference between what I used to do when I weighed 261 and what I do now.

1) I actually like looking in mirrors, and even do it when I'm naked.

2) Don't mind getting my photograph taken and, in fact, ask people to take it

3) Shop for clothes at a store rather than online. Still not a big shopper, but I don't mind it like I used to.

4) More willing to meet new people and try new things (like kayaking--I fit in one!)

5) Run across the street.

6) Not finish all the food on my plate in a restaurant because I'm full and just don't want to eat anymore

8) Run a 5K race

9) Walk around naked (thanks for reminding me of that one, Nelie! :) )

10) Go to the store in my spandex workout shorts and feel fine about it.

What are yours? Keep adding as you keep thinking of them. :)

Thing I do now since losing weight.
1. sleep a lot less
2. Always willing to go places
3. Love to shop
4. Take less medications
5. Willing to have pic's taken
6. Help others who are in need of assistance
7. Love getting outdoors for yard work and gardening
8. Go to more of my DD's school functions
9. Keep up with my daily home chores much better
10. Love cooking healthy, tasty meals and trying new recipes
11. Watch less TV
12. Spend more time here at 3FC's
13. Willingly go to my Dr. appt's without dread being weighed
14. Feel much sexier with my DH
15. I throw my Lane Bryant coupons in the trash now

1) Go for long, challenging hikes! I love being able to go for miles without stopping.

2) I do stare at myself a lot in mirrors, even when naked. Not something I did a lot when I weighed a lot more

3) I walk around naked or half naked.

4) Don't mind getting my picture taken (but not naked!!)

5) I eat healthier and enjoy it.

6) I feel less self concious around others. I used to feel that I should apologize for my weight.

7) In general, I think I'm more active. I also watch less TV, so much less that I got rid of my cable service.

I know there are other things but that is a short list.

okay...fun!

1) walk downtown and back (1.5 miles each way) rather than drive

2) bike to work (2 miles each way)

3) eat tastier AND healthier food than I did before

4) really enjoying the shopping

5) already cannot stop looking at myself in mirrors. Who's she? Oh, me!

6) have a gym membership

7) regularly USE the gym membership

8) can't stop talking about weight loss and eating healthy

9) stare at my students' unhealthy food and realize how I got so fat

10) don't fall asleep every afternoon (this happened after I changed eating habits but before I lost weight -- who knew my food choices were making me sleepy).

11) am working with a TRAINER!

12) am not hating working with the trainer!

13) think before I eat

14) did I mention the shopping?????

15) am starting to conceive of doing this for LIFE!

Hmmm...I'm only 20 pounds down so far but I've noticed:

1) Feeling so much more energetic (the weight loss has helped this I'm sure but it also must be my diet - it makes such a difference when you're not eating fries everyday! WHO KNEW?? :) )

2) Fitting into my clothes better

3) Shopping for smaller sizes - I even bought a size 16 skirt today!

4) Compliments from family & friends

5) Feeling sexier

6) LOVING working out - I never knew it could feel so good!!

I'm just going to mention this one, but it is a huge one for me.

I put on a swimsuit and went to the hotel pool both yesterday and today. It's the first time in at least 15 years. Maybe longer. :)

I can go to stores and pull a size 8 petite jeans off the rack and know that they will fit.
I can wear my teenagers clothes (like I would really want to.....the teen prostitute look doesn't look the same on 42 year old mom, lol)
I can shave my legs standing up in the shower without losing my balance.
I can look in a full length mirror and not deny that the person looking back is me.
I can say no to McDonalds and Wendy's, etc........I now actually like Subway.
I can walk up the basement stairs without resting.
I don't look pregnant in all my shirts
I actually am starting to wear make up again.......never thought I'd bother with that.

I can wear 3 sizes smaller for the first time in many, many years

I can breathe easier and am not winded when I climb stairs

I have a new interest in clothing and jewelry (still have the same interest I used to have in shoes)

I am a much happier person all the way around

I can feel bones :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Wear lycra in public
Wear really short shorts in public
Wear lycra shorts...
Wrap myself in a standard towel
Wear hotel bathrobes
Meet people without worrying they're going to judge me for my weight
Enjoy clothes shopping
Wear a bikini
Run a marathon
Believe that anything is possible
Go into a shop and buy the smallest size rather than the biggest
Try styles I'd never have dared before
Look in the mirror and see someone pretty and thin looking back
People think of me as "sporty"

2bfree 10-06-2006 11:15 PM

I've only lost 20 and am amazed at the differences already. I can-
1. Fit into the bathtub without pressing into the sides
2. Roll over in bed without having to push off
3. Go up and down the stairs without panting and stopping to rest
4. Play with my children without wanting to stop and sit down
5. Bend over to pick things up and actually be able to reach them
6. I feel healthy and energetic and ready to live life to it's fullest. I attribute this to eating nutritional foods and having an empty stomach as much as the weight loss.

1) Shopping for clothes is FUN, now!

2) I have TONS of energy, now!

3) I look younger.

4) People actuallly comment on my clothes and my weight loss. People seem to SEE me.

5) I feel proud that my children are proud of me.

6) Bathroom stalls seem much larger these days!

7) I enjoy looking at my profile (minus the chubby chin and bigger belly).

8) Buying sexy undies just for me was FUN!!!

howie6267 11-13-2006 08:47 AM

Buy clothes in a regular store.
Walk a lot more.
Don't worry about fitting in a chair.
Don't mind eating in front of others.
Just enjoy life a lot more.

Well, I've got still quite a road ahead of me, but for now:

I LOVE getting on the scale, something that I literally had not done since my youngest child was born - almost 15 years ago!

I LOVE having people ask ME if I've lost weight and ask ME, how I've done it.
Who would have thunk it?

I LOVE seeing my children so happy for me with every tiny weight victory that comes my way.

I LOVE seeing my husband proud of me.

I LOVE seeing my clothing falling off of me and my dress size go down, down, down.

I LOVE that I finally decided that I am worth the effort.

I LOVE that my collar bones are starting to pop out, collar bones - I almost forgot about those.

I LOVE the fact that I think that one day I might actually be of a normal weight, that I can indeed go all the way.

That's it for now..................to be continued.
