wow, congratulations!

we have a bunch of schools in our neighborhood for different martial arts classes (one right on the corner, in the summer when the windows are open you can hear the group of them making that karate noise, "Hey!", ha) I didn't know it was such good exercise. I'd like to try it.

Definitely give it a try! Some schools will give you your first class for free.
It is an excellent workout! And lots of fun!!! Each martial art is a little different, for example, in high school I was learning Pshi Kai Do Karate. It is a defensive style focusing mainly on throwing your opponent/attacker using their own body weight against them. Main focus was on throws and punching. Tae Kwon Do focuses on kicking and punching.
