Ketosis is a state where the body is burning its own fat for fuel. This is a GOOD place to be. So if it leaves behind some bad breath? So what? It isn't actually bad breath it is just different smelling. Kind of warm and sweetish smelling. Yes it mostly happens on low carb diets, but low carb diets usually burn the fat a lot faster than most diets, since with low carb you have cut off the body's normal fuel source (carbs). Still if you are losing fat quickly, it would stand to reason that you are burning fat which should have the same effect.

There is one way to tell if you are in "ketosis". You can buy test strips from the pharmacy called "Ketostix". If they turn pink after you pee on them you are in ketosis. In the diet section of some stores are another brand called "Metabostix" and I think they are more expensive and you get less and they don't work as well but if you can't find the others you could try them.
