Congratulations Sarah!

I was 272 when I got pg with my 10th. I had no problems that were weight related. I actually had high blood pressure when pg when I was younger and only a little overweight. I started this journey when I was about half way through my 11th pg. I tried to maintain my weight but lost a few lbs. I started exercising and exercised the day I went into labor. I had the best pg since my first. You are already ahead as you are exercising. They actually recomend exercise now. I did WATP as I was just starting out. Next pg I'll continue with my elliptical.

One site you might want to check out is The Plus-Size Pregnancy Website.

As for showing wear maternity tops and pat your belly. I don't think its shallow. This is a special time in your life and it didn't start out the way you had hoped. Even thin moms don't show much with their firsts. I know it bugged me. Now I always look pg lol

Hi Sarah,

I am also Sarah -- with a "h" :D Congratulations on your pregnancy. I was overweight for both of my pregnancies, I only gained 10 pounds with each, it was after the pregnancies that I gained weight. Eat healthy, walk -- a lot, it will not only keep your weight in check, but it will help you with labor when the time comes. Yoga is also good.

I don't have any advice for you about your situation with the father, sorry.

I do recommend that you educate yourself on childbirth and pregnancy, because doctors today treat it like it's a medical emergency instead of a natural thing that women's bodies were made to do, so we women need to be armed with knowledge and be our own advocates.

for some great pregnancy support check out babycenter.com, it's a great support site with message boards, you can get a lot of you pregnancy questions answered there.

Good luck to you! And take care of yourself.

Nelie

No baby or puppy  Make it an older dog so you don't have to do house training ;)

I'm with you, Kimberlie! Puppies aren't that cute and cuddly for long (and in fact most dogs are dumped at shelters when they're in the 6-18 month old stage). With an adult dog, you know what you're getting, and you can teach an old dog (at any age) new tricks! :)

And, Nelie, don't even think about getting a puppy and having a baby at the same time. *Shudder*

Hi Sarah! You'll do the right thing. As far as exercise - it sounds like you've been exercising. And you are right, unless you are instructed otherwise by your health care provider, you should be able to continue on with what you have been doing. Walking, elliptical, light weights - I did all of that up until the end each time. Unless you play soccer or rugby or are into body building - the other stuff is just fine! How far along do you think you are?

I am about 5 weeks. Not very far but I am taking it VERY seriously!

Congratulations!!!!
I was 292 when I got PG with my first. I think my nurse practitioner figured I would end up with every PG complication in the books because of my weight but other than my BP slowly creeping up at the end and causing me to switch to the docs earlier, I had no complications with her. I gained about 12 pounds total.

When I got PG with William was was 317. I was diagnosed with GD with him and ended up on insulin. I ended up losing weight and delivered him weighing 12 pounds less.

This PG (currently 15 weeks), I weighed 285 and haven't really gained weight (technically I lost 10 before finding out I was PG and put that back on and have maintained at 285 for a while). I have already been diagnosed with GD this time around.

As for the PGs, I started showing about 5-6 months with my first, and 3-4 months with my second. This one, it just depends on what I'm wearing how PG I look. :D

First of all, when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I was on the brink of breaking up with her father. He asked me to marry him when he found out I was pg and I told him a resounding NO and I to this day don't regret it. You don't have to get married just because you are pregnant. He can still be a part of his child's life without you two being together or married.

When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I wasn't as overweight as I am now but I was overweight, 213 pounds. I did A LOT of walking and only gained 20 pounds during my pregnancy and dropped it like a hot potato after I had her. Talk to your doctor about safe exercises for each trimester and walking is always a plus. Best of luck to you!!! I so understand how you are feeling right now.

I was close to 300 when I got pregnat with my son, and due to everyday sickness (mega morning sickness) I lost 40lbs in the 8 months. You couldn't really tell I was preg unless I wore something flat and a little tight. (the baggier the better at that stage for me).

Aquasize is a great pregancy exercise, & walking, just keep an eye on those cravings.

As for your relationship, go with your heart.

Dawnyal... congrats!! That is SO exciting!

As for me, I didn't have to make a decision with my guy for right now because last night, on the phone, he said that he can tell I only have friendly feelings toward him and he broke up with me. He said we will still be friends and it doesn't mean he won't be a good dad and be there for our baby. He said he still loves me and if I decide I want to be with him and I mean it, he wants to get back with me. I am REALLY confused because I do want to have more than friendly feelings for him but I don't. I feel kind of alone right now! I have my family and friends but something about him breaking up with me makes me feel SICK. BLAH!

Congrats.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was overweight when I first had my daughter too. I weighed about 270. But, I am 6 ft tall. I only gained 15 pounds and ended up losing some weight along the way too.
i did however, have some complications during my pregnancy. First of all I have hypertension which was controlled throughout with medication. Form about 6 months on I had to have non stress tests done twice weekly to see how the baby was doing.
She weighed a whopping 9 pounds and 11 ounces at birth.
Today , I am still trying and have been for a long time. I am still overweight but am trying to loose.
My doctor has put me on a fertility pill called Clomid. I have taken it for 6 months 1 a day at 50 mg. Yesterday , he increased it to 2 pills ( 100 mg) on like days 5-9 of my cycle. I am just curious if anyone has ever been on this drug and became pregnant using this medication. Also, I take folic acid and a multivitamin too.

Shelley
