I was reading today that the two trainers have different approaches to calories.....but basically the biggest guy is on 2000 cal a day, whereas some of the smaller people are on 1200 to 1500 cals a day.

I actually heard its 5-6 hours a day. At least that's what they say on the NBC.com Biggest Loser forums.

It obviously works for the first part when they go from morbidly obese to overweight. I would really like to know more about the part they do "off the ranch", where they go from overweight to fit. They never really show it on TV.

I got the book this week and it says they work out 4-6 hours on the ranch, but IRL they do 1-2 hours. Once you get used to doing that amount of exercise a day, it nearly feels lazy NOT to. I used to train for swimming up to 6 hours in a day, it was crazy, but you get used to it. Now if only I could do that now...

There is an equation for how many calories, it's your present weight x 7. They say to change this for every pound of fat you lose. I haven't finished reading the book yet... but so far it looks good.
