Thanks so much everyone, for the words of support! I got on the scale this morning, and it said 300. OMG... I am just speechless...
When I started this journey, I refused to get on a scale. When I finally did after a couple months of dieting, it said 298. Now, I wish I would have gotten on the scale earlier so I could say that I lost even more. Think of this as a great big diving board - you're going to make some waves in your life so you might as well start off of a nice tall springboard.
First of all, welcome to the boards! (I am a little late posting). All very good advice that has been suggested. I think the common theme is that you have to find what is right for you. There are so many plans out there, that I know you will find what is right for you. Please do not look at it as a diet, but look at it as a lifestyle change. Therefore, you need a plan that you will be able to live with for the long term. Sandi is right, focus on the small goals (10 lb increments work for me) and you will find that it is not as insurmontable as it seems. Jounalling is a big thing as well. Write down everything that you eat. I know I was shocked when I started jounalling and realized what I was eating on a daily basis. Best of luck and we are all here for the support, to be sounding boards, etc.,
Yogini makes a good point, though. We all know there can be hiccups along the way and dates might become irrelevant... the point is to get started and get a routine, see a weight loss and see how the body reacts.
It would be nice if it we could lose that fast but at last it does take time. However when you get to your goal you will be amazed at how quick that time really went.
Welcome! I have had moments like yours before & it really sucks to feel so badly about your body. I finally decided that I was going to DO something about it, ANYTHING.
I think it's POSSIBLE to lose 150 lbs. in 20 mos. but if you're like me, putting a finite time goal doesn't work. If you aren't making "enough" progress, you'll get discouraged and quit. That's how it works for me, anyway. I try to eat well & exercise, one day at a time. Let us know how you're doing.
That's a good point... I've been thinking that I can only do something one day at a time, and it's good to have a goal... but I'm going to keep them small. That is why I don't have a date down there on my little slider thingie.
Yesterday I did good, today I did just okay (chicken parmesan for lunch), but I'm still optimistic, and determined that I WILL be healthier and thinner!
