Summer Weddings

  • Hey who else has to go to a wedding this summer? The one I have to attend is On June 20th, 5 months to lose as much weight as I can. Is it possible to lose 10-15 pounds a month?? How is everyone losing their weight?? Any advice??
  • I don't have any summer weddings that I know of yet...as far as your weight loss question, from everything I've read and heard, 2/week is the max you should lose. It's OK to lose more than that once in a while, but not every week. Slower weight loss is supposed to be more permanent too (though that really depends on maintenance habits, I would think.) HTH!
  • No weddings to go to but I would think 10 lbs a month could be done. I shoot for 12 sometimes I make it sometimes I don't. I am a man though and weight does come off a little quicker for most men. I eat 1800 calories a day and have recently started adding exercise daily.
  • ahhh someone's getting married on my birthday

I agree that the 10 pounds a month is very doable. I wouldn't get too upset though if you didn't make it. You have to figure that any amount of weight you lose between now and then will make you healthier. Good luck and welcome.
  • I don't have a summer wedding to go to .. but i do have a wedding in the Dominican Republic to go to next year ... so that means a bridesmaid dress and a bathing suit I have to look good in I have 12 months til that happens ... but I'm starting now!
  • I'm getting married June 25 (only wedding that I'm going to this summer) - and I am also trying to lose as much as I can before my dress goes in for alterations in May. I think 10 lbs a month is doable, just stay motivated, exercise and don't get down if you dont lose some weeks.
  • I have a spring wedding to attend in Florida in May (outdoors, pretty casual), and I'd really love to be able to wear this dress to it. To fit into it, I will have to lose several more inches, and it may not be doable. So yes, I can relate!

I think 10/month is probably doable, but I have to keep myself from falling into the trap of wanting to lose as quickly as everyone else. Our bodies are really so different, so you really have to find your own rate.

    Good luck!
  • Jennifer--I love that dress. Since you said your scale isn't going down, maybe your inches are and you'll be there soon.
  • That dress is so pretty...you have awesome taste in clothes and shoes
  • I have 2 or 3 weddings to go to this year...the closest one being end of July.I'll be happy if I can lose 40lbs.by then. That will put me at 200lbs. and the lowest weight in over 12 years. It's the Sept.wedding I'm really looking forward to though.Family I haven't seen in a few years, some I haven't seen since I was little,so looking forward to it
  • It's definitely do-able. At first (and for about 6 months) I lost anywhere from 3-5 lbs a week. I did a low cal low fat and power-walked about 5 miles a day. Drink lots of water! A lot of how you lose depends on how active you are, your metabolism etc. I kicked it into overdrive and set my mind on the goal.. My original goal was to lose 50lbs by my sisters wedding last october. I started in March and ended up losing 73 lbs by October... Granted, I have gained since I am pregnant now, but I know after the baby, it nose to the grindstone again.

Keep food journals, set reasonable caloric values and fat values each day, don't eat afte 7:30pm and stick to what you have set. Exercise every day and have a positive attitude. You can do it! Good luck!
