A luminaria is a paper bag with a light in it, and the name of a cancer patient or cancer survivor, or of someone we have lost to cancer. (My Grammy, my Aunt Rose, my Uncle Peter, etc). They put them around the track where they have the Relay.
At 10PM they light up the bags one by one & read your personal message you have written for the person you are honoring or memorializing.
If you've never seen it, it's really moving, something to see.
Former ACS employee. I worked there 4 1/2 years, and just thought of something.
We could probably purchase them online & have them read at whichever Relay Sarah want to attend? Then she could see how cared for she is. I know we're not supposed to post links, but let me know & I could look into it.
