jumping on the bandwagon too

  • i haven't had a cigarette since wednesday (dec. 8)!!
i'm so happy. i'm feeling sooooooo good! the last few times i 'quit' i still had a cigarette every now and then so i didn't really *QUIT*. but this time i haven't cheated at all. just had to share my news.
  • Good for you, Shelly! I'm always so happy to see another one jump on the wagon. There's plenty of room left for those who're thinking of joining us and if you're still smoking I urge you to come along for the ride. I didn't think I'd ever be able to quit and now I'm the most adamant (and annoying) reformed smoker alive (emphasis on alive!)

Keep it up, Shelly - you're doing a wonderful thing for yourself and all those who care about you!
  • YAY Shelly!

I have to admire anyone who has been able to do this. I don't smoke but I have watched both of parents struggle many times, trying to quit but never quite being able to stay away from cigarettes. I know it's not an easy battle. Keep on keepin' on, girl.
  • Shelly!!!!

You need 1 big pat on the back honey!

My goal is to quit in the New Year, and could use all the "role-models" I can get!

You'll do great! Keep it up!
  • Shelly, thats wonderful! I quit some time ago and would never go back. It feels so good to be able to take a deep breath and NOT to be coughing up all that black icky mucus, not to mention all the money you'll be saving.
  • Woohoo, go Shelly

  • All right!! Good for you, Shelly! It's tough now, but it will definitely be worth it. Here's to a happy, healthy, smoke-free life!
  • WTG Shelly. You the woman!!! Now's the perfect time to quit here in OK anyway since cigs are about to have something like $1.08 tax per pack. Jeff keeps telling me he will quit for my christmas. we'll see
  • Way to go Shelly ~ I am glad for you ~ you are doing a wonderful thing for yourself.
  • Good Job Shelley! Keep up the great work. Its not as hard as you thought it would be right? Congratulations on a wise decision!
  • thanks everyone! no it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. i feel like such a better person already. i'm not as irritable with my kids, i have more patience with them, i'm wanting to do more stuff with them instead of sitting around and smoking a cigarette. i feel so mellowed out. its very refreshing!!! i feel so clean!
  • Shelly

Wow! Great Job! Way to go! That is such a postive and healthy thing to do for yourself.

I know you can keep it up!

  • That is wonderful! Keep up the great work.
I worked at a gas station for a number of years. A coworker and I calculated that smoking a pack a day costs $1460 (@ $4 a pack which is what the store sold them for). Her and her husband both smoked (x2= $2920). I said, 'Three thousand dollars? That's like two and half months of your rent.' She didn't like that comment (I wonder why... .)
So what will you do with an extra $1500? A trip to Hawaii sound nice...
