It's easy to say don't be scared when you're not the one faced with the situation :sorry: so I'm going to say think positive thoughts. Say a prayer. Do something comforting for yourself. My experience with life is that things usually work out so don't worry so much about the money aspect. Do what you need to do to make sure you are okay.
It's only dark until you turn on the light. Research, research, research. That should alleviate some of the stress because you'll at least know what you're facing. Know always that we are here for ya! :) Lots of love and hugs XXXOOO. My thoughts are with you. |
Wow, you are dealing with some heavy stuff, I honestly can't imagine what it's like, but I can definitely help you on that doctor front. I hate hate hate going to the doctor, no matter what I say, I always walk out of the door with a prescription for something.. which I hate. And they always make me feel guilty, no idea why. Anyways, when you go in there on Monday, be prepared, know what questions you have, bring a pen and paper and write the answers down, be informed on what you think the causes and solutions are, and if you really feel that strongly about not having gastric bypass surgery, make sure you tell them. The doctors are there to make you feel better, and you are paying them to do that.. if this doctor doesn't feel like the right one, and tells you that you have to do things you don't want to, it'll just make things worse for you. There is always another doctor. I hope that helps a little bit, try taking a cal/mag suppliment, it'll help you relax a bit, and maybe watch a funny movie.. take your mind off of it for a little while, you are probably very tense. Take care, and I hope things go well for you on Monday. :)

aww, heather... big hugs. i hope everything is okay. i'll keep you in my thoughts.

Awww Heather. I feel so bad for you right now. I just want you to know that I am here for you all the way. Sometimes we make our condition seem worse once we know what it is because we are scared. See the doctor ASAP you need to have more information to go on because fear of the unknown is a big enemy for you right now. As for the money issue, you will most certainly get through that one way or the other. You have plenty of options. It is so very important that you see the cardiologist. You are going to make it!! It is a very good thing that you went to the emergency room. You caught the condition before it worsens. *Big Hugs*, hang in there Heather.

Keep us posted sweetie. We always knew you had a big heart ;)
Right now, let's concentrate on the good things. You have a wonderful support system here and at home. Whatever it is, you're having it checked out and that's a step in the right direction. As far as the doctors go, listen with open ears and an open mind. Just because you listen to what they're saying doesn't mean you're taking it as fact - it just means you're taking in all the information to make a decision about your body. This isn't invasion of the body snatchers - they won't wheel you off without talking to you. :) If they start to piss you off, excite you, make you feel guilty, whatever - makes sure you let them know, "Hey! I'm the scared frightened one here. Don't you think that schoolyard bully mentality is a bit unconstructive? Cut it out! I'm a real person." If you have trouble getting it all out - write it on a flashcard and just flash them periodically with a wake-up call. :) |
Heather I'm sorry you have to be dealing with this. You have some great advise above. I know lots of people with heart problems and it is just amazing how far they have come in technology with dealing with the heart. Keep up you spirts and try not to worry to much. Your in our prayers.

(((((BIG HUG))))) I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this but glad to hear you got it checked out. Most places allow you to make payment arrangements to pay your bills so I wouldn't worry too much about that right now.

Heather ~
(((HUGS))) I am sorry that you are having to go through this right now. Just know that you are not alone. How are you feeling today? Did you get an appointment?? |
I go through periods of time where i will feel good,. then there are times where my chest is all tight, or I am worried/crying. The doc office gave us a wednesday appointment, we are trying to get one sooner. I am freaking out right now because hubby went to the grocery store and the car died and wont start. It wont start with jumper cables either so now we have to pay money we dont have to get it towed and fix whatever is wrong,.. on top of everything else. I can feel my chest tightening, so I am trying not to freak out too much.
I have a corn pillow that I heat in the microwave and put on my chest and that seems to help.. i am also limiting sodium and taking aspirin just in case. |
Great to hear from you Heather!
You've really been in my thoughts and prayers today. Sorry to hear about your car. Take lots of care xx |
Heather,
I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Do some research on the net but don't let anything you find scare you. You may get to the dr. and find out the guy in the ER just doesn't read xrays very well. I have had problems with tightness in my chest before. I got myself all scared and stressed out and when I went to the dr. it turned out I had pulled muscles in my chest wall :dizzy:. Don't borrow trouble. Worrying won't bring Wednesday here any faster. Remember, we're all here sending good vibes your way. Give your DH a big hug when he comes home - he probably needs them just as much as you do right now. Take care of yourself. |
Heather the others have given you wonderful advice. I want you to know I'm also here for you. Keep posting.

We heard from the doc office. They want me to go for an echocardiogram Monday. He is going to look over the xrays and ekg from the ER and is supposed to call me before 9pm,.. the head nurse said that if he sees anything that warrants immediate attention, that we would get the tests done even sooner somehow. Talking to the nurse made both hubby and I feel better.
She said that more people than you think have enlarged heart and that I will prolly get some BP meds and the heart can eventually shrink back down to more normal size. She said that ER docs are not specialists, and they can overreact. That made me feel much better! |
Good I'm glad your feeling better. I hate it when medical people make you feel worse than they need to. They should have giving you all kinds of info at the ER so you would not be so scared.
