An Awesome Autumn Awaits: October 2022 Check-in & Accountability Thread
everyoneto the October 2022 daily weigh-in/check-in. This is our monthly neighborhood block party so welcome back to the regulars, and please consider joining us if you've been reading/hanging out. We'd love to have you here!
There is something dramatic and awe-inspiring about October. The trees are ablaze with crimson, gold, and orange leaves that will eventually make their way to the ground and under our feet where the unmistakable crunch lets us know that the season has changed. In Northern California where I live, the relentless heat has finally given way to generic warm days and cool crisp nights that make using a blanket reasonable. The colors, sounds, and other bold seasonal changes are a fitting metaphor and set the stage for the changes we've made, continue to make or plan to make this year. And if you haven't started, why not now? Take some time to acknowledge and appreciate what has brought you to this point. We can be grateful for all the successes and set-backs; they are both valuable teachers. We can practice strategic-self care and acknowledge that this is a challenging time of year, but that in general we still control what we eat, whether we exercise, and how much sleep we get. Every day is a new day to begin again. Every time you choose to nourish yourself well, move your body, or stubbornly fight for your health, you set the standard for how fierce and amazing you can or want to be.
Sending and well wishes as we enjoy all the splendor October brings.

Good morning
It's been a minute since I last posted. I should have known better to think I could even post regularly in September. My university is on the quarter system so classes began on September 19. However, activities/events, trainings, orientations and meetings all kick-off September 1 or shortly thereafter. Life has been a blur since September 1. I hope everyone had a great month.
I've been dealing with a broken blood vessel in my left eye for a week. It may take up to three weeks to heal. In the meantime, warm compresses and thick soothing eye drops has helped tremendously. In more positive news, I made an appointment for Sunday to get fitted for a new pair of shoes. I'm considering doing our local Turkey Trot in November and even if I don't, I want to start walking and running again. All my current shoes are long past gone. Good for kicking around the house and running errands though.
Kayla (aka RunningRedHead): A special shout-out to you for keeping our September thread going with your posts. October should be better for me. I'm so happy you were able to return to your former position. Is at the same college/university? Was it awkward wanting and discussing your return and/departure? I ask because I've been in my current position for 10 years and have been thinking about a job change. Leaving for a potentially better/different position that for some reason doesn't pan out, and wanting to return, is a scenario that has crossed my mind. In other news, how are the wedding plans going? It's coming up soon!
KStrong: We miss you! What's up in your world?
Happy Tuesday!

Hi All! It's been a hot second since I posted- I was having a lot of trouble getting the page and different threads to load. It seems to have resolved though!
Curvy: Sorry to hear about your eye, how are you feeling?? Glad to hear you're getting a new pair of sneakers! Leaving and going back to the same college has been...an experience you know what they say about going with the devil you know, though. And yes, the wedding is almost here! I'm excited and nervous, but everything is pretty much all set I hope all is well!

I'm hoping to be in the low 230s/high 220s (if not lower!) by 12/23. I always forget how much electrolytes help with whooshing some water weight. Yesterday was a fairly active day, I hit my step goal of 14k steps and took advantage of the beautiful weather (70F and sunny, rare this time of year) by mowing and collecting leaves in our back yard.

I’m not surprised my weight rebounded today—it usually does after a significant whoosh, but also because I installed flooring in my office/laundry/sewing & craft/yoga space yesterday (I should just say multipurpose room ). A lot of physical work, carrying heavy boxes, repeated crouching, standing, going up and down stairs, etc. I feel sore in some major muscle groups, but it’s a good sore reminding me I moved, not an “I think I injured myself” kind of sore.

I finished my flooring project Sunday evening and had a bit of water weight rebound yesterday, but it's starting to settle out. I went for a 3 mile walk with Loki and one of my oldest friends at a local trail neither of us had been too. It was lovely to explore and to be walking somewhere away from traffic!

Curvy - I just saw this post. I, too, have been dealing with eye issues, surgeries, procedures, etc. I've been sporadic in my posting but mostly just visiting my yearly challenge thread lately. I hope your eye is much better since you posted this!
