Default March Gladness: March 2022 Daily Check-in & Accountability Thread

Greetings and welcome to the March Gladness 2022 Check-in & Accountability Thread! This is a warm and supportive thread so whether you are a long time poster, brand new, or a lurker wanting to join the conversation, please settle in and make yourself at home.
  • Here you can post your daily weight,
  • Share workouts and way of eating (WOE) plans, struggles and successes,
  • Life adventures and anything else you care to share.
Our theme this month is a riff on the NCAA college basketball tournament referred to as March Madness; a fun-filled month where some of the best college basketball of the season is played. There are highs, lows, and some unbelievable surprises. Whether you're a basketball fan or not, the same can be said of our pursuit of weigh loss and fitness goals. Sometimes the highs and lows are predictable, and sometimes we stand gobsmacked on the scale at unexpected success. Regardless of what this month brings, take some time to enjoy the changing of the season and recognize that it's not just the natural world that experiences renewal and growth. We do too! This month let's take advantage of the "magical" moments that occur when winter releases its icy grip in the Northern Hemisphere. Let's commit to doing away with some of the "heavy" that has been bringing us down. Spend some time outdoors and take in the fresh air and feel the sun on your face. Certainly, set goals but allow for flexibility and be kind to yourself.

A lovely and productive March to us all!

‘Is the spring coming?’ he said. ‘What is it like?’…'It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine…’

curvynotlumpy I saw what you said at the end of the February thread. That was so sweet, thank you! I plan on staying on the 3FC site and on this thread even when I get to goal. Maintenance is something I have never done before. When I was younger I lost 50 pounds (a few times) in 6 months or so but have never kept it off. There is something therapeutic about reporting our losses (or gains) here and helping others along the way too. It gets our thoughts out and it helps keep us focused on it.

My goal for March is one pound. I will be happy with that (187 pounds). If you think that one pound of butter is four sticks then that is a good visualization. Losing four sticks of butter this month is my goal!

Gone Astray I see from your post at the end of the February thread you made your 20 pound goal. Congrats!! Pretty soon you will notice your clothes are getting too big. At least that is how it's been for me...20-25 and you need a smaller size.

KStrong I can see how percentages of a pound will be my goal soon. Basically I feel I am in pre-maintenance. Honestly I feel this weight is OK but would still like to lose more. It's funny that the almost entirety of my adult life I have been in the mid 200's so being at 188, 187 is almost like a dream.

Curvy: Thank you for continuing our monthly thread! I really like the quote you included, it’s so appropriate.

Loganandlivsmom: I love how you included a pound of butter as visualization, I always think of sugar visualization for carbs consumed—but thinking about visualization of fat loss, that’s brilliant! Another thing I like is this website, which if you type in the number of pounds you’ve lost it shows you an animal that weighs that much. I think it’s actually for showing people how much they lift at the gym, but it works this way too

KStrong: I have been negligent with outdoor exercise as well—now that the weather is getting nicer, I’m focusing on getting out with the pup for a nice long walk in the morning after my fiancé leaves for work. I think if I don’t do it early in the day, I talk myself out of it!

The beginning of the semester has been off to a crazy start. Our spring break was this week and I still feel like I worked nonstop. Between work, packing the house to move in 3 weeks, and trying to find temporary housing that’ll accept three dogs, I decided to add job hunting to my to-do list and just accepted a new job that has better hours (better work-life balance!) and much better pay! My goal for the rest of the month is to get back into (and stay!) in the 220’s.

After a long time of no progress while completely on plan, the scale is finally moving in the right direction. I am now down 22. I am keeping on my plan and working to get more steps in each day. That is all I can do

I am getting closer to the four sticks of butter this month. I have lost two at least. LOL I am at 187.4

Gone Astray A big congrats on the loss! I know the feeling of staying on plan and the scale doesn't want to move. It's so awesome when it finally does!

RunningRedHead Thanks! It does help me visualize it! Like you said with looking at an animal that weighs the amount you lost, my daughter lifts weights and said mom lift this. It was a barbell with weights on it. It was 75 pounds and it was hard, almost impossible to lift and she said "this is how much you've lost." Wow. It sort of blows you away.

Once again, your schedule-life is so busy! Keep plugging away at tracking your calories if nothing else. It will be so worth it!

KStrong Once in my early 20's I weighed 225 and lost 50. I reached 175 and remember thinking I wanted to lose more. Of course for whatever reason I slipped and started gaining it back again. I get how even though 160 something is a dream compared to 280 you still want those few more pounds to perfect how you look. Yes "weight loss twin" we should have gotten this through our heads earlier. You have my permission to get the blazer!

Loganandlivsmom: Trying to lift what you’ve lost is so eye-opening! If I ever get to the 100-pounds-down mark, one of my friends has a 100-pound vest she uses for training I want to try—I don’t even think I could carry half of that anymore, and I think about that every time I haul my butt up the stairs at work

RunningRedHead I have a two story house so frequently I do think of how much more weight I used to carry with me up those stairs all the time. That will be cool when you get to try that vest! (Not if...when). When is the wedding planned?

KStrong I wish I had some great advice...we just have to hang in there and keep plugging away.

Yesterday I weighed 187, so the goal of one pound aka four sticks of butter was met!! Today I was 184.8! How is that possible?? I will not believe it until I see the same thing a few days in a row.

This may be the only post I've made since I created the thread. Friends, it has been a long and stressful month. While I haven't been posting, I have been reading and keeping up with you all. Have to be honest though, I'm looking forward to turning the calendar page. On that note, please join me here on our new April thread.

Nice. I would love to follow you in Sept. Guys my name is DeannePeterson. And I have two children. And he was given to write an essay on cybercrimes in college. He was not able to complete his assignment. Then I searched on Google to help them and I found this https://writinguniverse.com/free-ess.../cyber-crimes/ post. Essay writing examples are given in this post for free and my children have prepared very good assignments through this. If you also want to help your children with assignments, then you can take help from this post.
