Absolutely Amazing April 2019 Daily Check-In & Accountability Thread

Greetings and welcome to our April 2019 weigh in/check in! Join us as we continue on our journeys to a healthier YOU. https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ima...iles/sunny.gif Spring https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ima...iles/sunny.gif is here so let's love on ourselves and accomplish our goals. While here we can shed some pounds & inches and share some great NSV's (non-scale victories). A new month is always a great time for a fresh beginning, and with the warmer temps now making a regular appearance nearly everywhere, it also holds much promise. What brings us to this thread are our efforts to get/remain healthy in a kind and supportive environment. But whether we lose or gain weight it is only one part of our life. What does your spring 2019 agenda entail? Are you a gardener itching to get poking in the dirt? Are you busting out new recipes that are lighter but still comforting? Do you find yourself moving more or at least have the impulse to use the extended daylight hours to your advantage? Is there an area of your home that needs attention? Maybe you're just trying to find some peace while you're juggling the respective pieces of your life. Nothing wrong with that! Regardless of what occupies your mind and your time let's use these thirty awesome days of April to be more mindful of our purpose and prioritize ourselves in healthy and positive ways. We are on this journey with a PURPOSE and doing it together https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ima...s/grouphug.gif - this is a place to chat, vent and/or to use just for the accountability https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/images/smilies/hug.gif

Come on in, join us, and meet some great people. If you're lurking and curious, jump on in and post at any time. Everyone's https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ima...es/welcome.gif

Here you can:
~track your weight daily, weekly or however you'd like ... but do check in
~keep track of what you eat or didn't eat
~keep track of your water intake or lack of
~keep track of your exercise/other goals
~vent, rant ... express yourself or just chit-chat

We can and will ALL get closer to our goals AND hit them together

Hope to see you soon ....

Curvy: Thank you so much for continuing this thread!

Hello, all! Last month was the first month in which I gained a significant amount of weight instead of losing since starting keto last May  A big part of it may be water retention from muscle building (I dropped 3% body fat last month :dancer:), but a portion of it may also totally have been poor diet choices toward the end of the month. This month I will be focusing on hitting my macros, passing my hydration goal, and dedicating myself to my C25K program with an ultimate goal of running a 10k on Thanksgiving this fall (Turkey Trot!!). Best of luck to everyone this month in slaying their goals!

After some serious whooshes over the last three days, I changed my monthly goal back to last month’s goal of 219. Today I plan to run, I’m on day one of week 2 of the C25K program. In two weeks I have my annual physical; my last one was before I started keto, when I still weighed-in in the 280s—I can’t wait to see my doc’s face when she sees me, she’s really awesome and actually advocates low-carb/keto to her patients (she’s one of the few who won’t advocate something unless she’s tried it herself and really does the research, which I really appreciate!). I hope everyone is having a great month so far!

Hi everyone :) April is already well underway and I realized I had yet to check in.

Thank you so much curvynotlumpy for keeping this monthly thread going.

RunningRedHead how are you enjoying the C25K program? I'm sure your doctor will be impressed by your progress so far and the C25K training can only help in getting you closer to your goals.

After finally being able to go on a long walk for the first time since last Fall last Sunday, I hurt my groin area (no clue how it happened) and I've refrained from walking all week (it was hard enough just having to walk within the store at work). It doesn't seem as sore today so after laundry is done, I'll try and walk and take advantage of this beautiful afternoon. My goal is to walk as often as I can this month. Hopefully I will sleep better and find some energy to do more, but walking is the goal.

Hope everyone has been having a great first week of April.

RunningRedHead 04-09-2019 11:09 AM

Martine: I'm so sorry to hear about your injury! I'm glad to hear it's not so sore recently, hopefully it was just a little strain and you can get back to those beautiful long walks with your Loki ;) I'm liking C25K a lot so far. I've started it before several times and quit around the 3rd or 4th week because at my heaviest weight it was just way too much for my knees. I definitely still have some old sports injuries that are making themselves known, but I'm listening to my body and pushing when it's okay and pulling back when I need to :)

I'm all over the map so far this month with weigh-ins. I think I'm up a bunch the last couple days because I've eaten a few more carb-heavy things than usual, plus the water retention from working out. I'm considering a break from looking at the scale when I weigh in (still weighing in daily and evaluating the weekly average instead of getting caught up in the day to day fluctuations). I also need to focus on hitting my protein goals this week; I've been terrible with that lately  I hope everyone is having a good month so far!

Martine 04-13-2019 06:33 PM

RunningRedHead hope you can pinpoint why the scale is all over the place this week. Though this latest number must be encouraging to see.

It is such a glorious, sunny and warm Spring day today that David and I went for a 3.9km walk at the park around the partly frozen lake and it was too much too soon, considering that I’m still dealing with groin pain. But the weather was so perfect that it was hard to not enjoy it.

I’m concerned about this groin injury because it’s been almost three weeks and I haven’t walked much other than at work and I see little improvement. I’ve started doing stretches a few times a day, I really hope that will do the trick and I won’t have to see my physiotherapist. Let’s just say that this is not an area of the body that I’m comfortable letting someone work on.

Hope everyone has had a good week with more to come :)

Hi Running red head. love love your name:lol:
what is the format to use on this thread? Im on a phone. And it's hard to navigate... much less see. :sp:
Is all that information in your signature? In class last night wr talked about goals and strategies to navigate thru Easter/ passover. Dinner and get togethers. Being prepared, etc. Letting your family know you need there support

And knowing that the food pushers are just showing love with food. good idea on the dancing veggies to mark you're weightloss. CLEVER

RunningRedHead 04-18-2019 12:09 PM

Michelle: I don't think there is a specific format to use, whatever floats your boat. I post infrequently because I prefer to do so on a desktop for that very reason! All of the info listed after my weigh-ins is part of my signature. As you mentioned, it's so important to keep in mind that food is how our families show love and it's just a way humans like to connect. Sometimes I find it difficult to keep this in mind!

I'm down one pant size, my nurse practioner who is watching my health, says it's about when you lose 30-40 is when people notice.
Feeling snacky today.I think in anticipation of the Easter dinner, not the day itself. As I know I'll around food hopefully knowing Mondays are weigh in will keep me in cheeck.

Happy Good Friday!

RunningRedHead 04-20-2019 12:13 PM

Michelle: I think one of the best motivators for me when I first started losing was the NSV's (like you mentioned, dropping a size is such great positive reinforcement). The other thing that helped me tremendously was making sure I took my measurements and progress photos in the same outfit consistently every month. I think I was about 25 lbs down when coworkers started noticing I was losing. Hang in there!

Well, it's been another incredibly  month for me. Good to see folks are still checking in. And yes, :welcome3:, Michelle! So nice to have new neighbors join us in the neighborhood. And like Running stated, all my information is in my signature as well.

I ended March with a teeth cleaning that showed I had a pretty significant cavity in one of my three remaining wisdom teeth. Thankfully, it doesn't hurt and I'm in no pain but it did result in a discussion with my new dentist about having them removed. At first we discussed just having the the one with the cavity extracted and then I asked, "can I just get them all removed", and she was thrilled about that. Honestly, my wisdom teeth have given me no problems; two are completely in and one is in partially. Every often it erupts a bit and I feel like a :bb: teething. So, I'm having them out the Friday before Memorial Day to take advantage of the long holiday. One more tooth related ditty--the week after my cleaning I was sucking on caramel apple sucker and one of my students poked his head into my office and startled me. I bit down and pulled off the crown from one of my bottom teeth. At first I couldn't find it and then realized it was stuck in the sucker. I had to take it to the ladies' room and melt the sucker down under hot water until it was released

As far as weight goes, well, it doesn't. I've neither lost nor gained and I continue to rack up miles of walking. Sadly, work tends to be the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing at night. Only rarely am I thinking about what goes in my body. At the same time, the weather is warming up and I realize I have no real spring/summer/lighter clothes to wear for the season so shopping at least for a few things is a must. I do feel like I'm hitting a crossroads in terms of how I manage my work because I don't like functioning this way and I feel like I'm cheating myself out some great non-work related experiences.

To all who celebrate, Happy Easter and Passover. And for all others, a happy and relaxing weekend!

Martine 04-21-2019 05:54 PM

Michele no matter if you see major changes when looking in the mirror, dropping a pant size is always a great validation that you are on the right track. Taking progress pictures like RunningRedHead is doing is a great way to see yourself from another point of view and see the real changes happening. Because we tend to be very hard on ourselves when looking in the mirror and not being able to recognize how far we've come.

RunningRedHead I am impressed at how close you are to the 210s now! Where are you now in your C25K training?

Curvynotlumpy so nice to see you check in. You're getting all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at once?! You will surely spend Memorial Day weekend relaxing with strong pain killers then. It's good that you have been maintaining your weight and are keeping up with walking. Is your welness group still holding meetings? I hope you can find the right balance between work and life in the next few weeks so you can really enjoy yourself and get back to fully taking care of yourself.

After non-stop rain yesterday, we had a Summer-like sunny day today. I woke up with the resolve to not let this beautiful day go to waste and to complete all my health goals today. I'm happy to say "mission accomplished". I ate healthy all day long and got in more veggies, I drank 2L of water and I went for 2 walks for a total of 6.35km. The pain in my groin area has now moved to my upper hip flexor (everything is connected) so I'm currently icing it. It's harder to stretch that area but I'll make it work somehow.

Hope everyone has been enjoying a great weekend :)

RunningRedHead 04-23-2019 08:38 AM

Curvy: Oh no! I’ve had a similar experience with a crown and a heated Quest bar  Glad to hear your wisdom tooth isn’t giving you too much grief, I’ll keep you in mind when it’s time for them to come out; don’t stress too much, if they aren’t impacted it’s not so bad! Great job maintaining this month! I just realized the same thing about my spring/summer wardrobe (or lack thereof ) Wishing you luck as you figure out the balance between work and having a life that is right for you.

Martine: Thanks! I actually had to take a break from C25K; my hip tendonitis flared up again, but it seems to be involving the flexors more this time around :stars: But I managed to keep walking, so I think that is helping a lot! Great job on your intake and your water! Glad to hear you were able to get some walks in and take advantage of the beautiful weather. :crossed: your pain gets better with icing and stretching!

This week is the week leading up to my friend’s wedding (the one in which I am maid of dishonor), and the stress is starting to hit me, big time as it is also my last week of the semester and my mental to do list is giving me a headache. Gotta remind myself that it’s okay to say no and not be my normal people-pleaser self this week and that I need to take care of myself, too. Wish me luck! Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

RunningRedHead I’m sorry to hear that you too have been dealing with ailments and that you have had to modify your training. It’s good that you are able to walk despite your hip pain. I’m wishing you to get through this week sound of mind and body :)

I’m happy to report that I was 100% on plan yesterday, including getting those 2L of water in. Yesterday I walked 3.35km and today 3.49km. I had to ice my right knee last night after work. I’ve been walking in a wonky way to protect my left groin area so it was bound to start to hurt elsewhere. Thankfully the knee pain wasn’t as bad this morning and same for my hip flexor.

Wishing everyone a great day ahead!
