Uber: good for you on the loss. You’ll have fun shopping in Paris - try something totally different! Thanks for the thoughts on cold food and chia. Yep - I tend not to enjoy the summer stuff in winter persay. Of late my morning go to has been a hard boiled egg, avocado and string cheese. Depending on what I have on hand then banana or tomatoes. I try to make it somewhat colorful. Do you write adult level or children? How did you segue into this area if you don’t mind me asking?

Toasted: how is your back on track going? Are you getting your steps in? I think I’m officially done olympics watching. I am tired of endless commercials and the rest that it seems everyone else complains on when I read an Olympic type article. However I was reading on what they suspect could happen to those from the hermitstate upon return. How awful to train and perform and not win - but doing your best to have knowledge you might end up never seen again? No thanks. What would be your sport if you competed? My kids say skeleton or luge and his mama says - oh the fragile body - HECK NO!

Morning ladies!

Am: avoided the scale this weekend I was totally not on any calorie recording and because I didn’t I’m sure I ballooned. DH fed me - enough said. The good news is I was able to get 66oz of water in without extra issues yesterday. Yeah! So I will try this again today and see if I do ok and keep that up and increase as I can. I don’t eat as much then. I’m also trying to keep the morning fast going w kids home.

My other goal for the week is to get my basement path cleared enough so I can walk. HellsBells I’m not going to get it all neatly put away - I need to get walking as I need my scale to move downward - right now it’s been stalled with some upward spikes. This cold sat me on my butt too long. Still can’t hear but feel better so yeah!

I’ve got kids home from school with impending weather changes that include lots of ice. I’m sure they’ll be home tomorrow if everything matches up to the forecasts. My only problem is DH getting home safely. His office manager is usually good about sending them home to work if it looks bad, there are a few in the office that all travel as far so I’m thankful she’s mindful of that and tries to keep them safe.

I have to bake today as I’m going to visit my mom. I usually take baked goods for her freezer as she no longer really does that for herself anymore but she likes to have sweet with her coffee and homemade is sometimes a nice treat. If I say she’s elderly she’d yell she’s not (she is) it’s all how you view yourself she’d say. So when we visit I take her sweet treats to have for the month. Sure she grumbles about her scale going up but at the same time she’s happy to have them. I think we all grumble about the scale no matter our age!

Well I’m off to await the ice to fall and keep kids busy. Enjoy your day all. Hopefully we don’t have power issues w said ice (normally we don’t) but if worse gets to worse my ILS do heat primarily w a wood stove so we can crash there if need be. I havent recalled them giving weather warnings for power loss from ice in a long time so I suspect this may be a bit out of the ordinary even for us.

Look forward to your Monday check in.

Uber: You know, on the going gray with my hair, I had a lot of stylists who didn't know what to do to get me where I wanted to be. I knew it could be done, because I had seen it online. I think I got lucky when I talked to my friend about her stylist - who wasn't taking new clients - but who had a niece who is a color specialist. She's young, but I do feel very confident that she knows what she is doing. I have my next appointment on March 10th, and that's when we'll go to the gray. I think. I do like the blonde, but I think I'll really like the gray. So excited! I'll take a picture when I get that done! By the way, congrats on the weight loss!!

Lemon: Sounds like you have lots of plans and projects! Good job on the skirt! I had a lot of plans for the weekend, but it turned out to be more of lazy one for me. I still have today! So, I'll try to keep up with you on getting some stuff done, anyway!

Jen: Sorry about the TOM. Never a good time. I think you're smart to just avoid the scale on those days!!

Toasted: Sorry you have to work today! Dang it! They didn't have the 2 hour spin class, so I didn't try it out. I also didn't go hiking because of weather and other issues. Ugh!!

As for me, I had a good weigh in this morning. I lost 1.2 pounds last week, so that made me happy. I'm looking forward to getting closer to the 240's. I felt pretty proud of my efforts over the weekend, I just have to keep trying to stay diligent with those weekend temptations. I went to spin this morning. It was nice to just be able to come home after and take a shower at home, instead of at the gym!!

So, here we go with another week! Have a good one!!!

Have any of you seen this video? I had seen it on dailymail (I go for the pictures and strangely sometimes you find out more news about the us then you do in the us - and the pictures - you can actually see something! Anywho - what do you all think of something like this to add movement? I’m not sure about the jumping jacks (that’s what I grew up calling them) due to my other issues - but I was thinking the time allotted seems right and maybe just some different movement can help.

Diane: I worked with a woman who went from gray to the blonde your sporting - she ran for years in the gray - very long and hadn’t had it cut in a decade. When she went to the blonde it was such a needed change - and then she began to segue back to a nice gray that just looked super healthy and youthful (yes gray can be youthful). So I say enjoy trying new colors to you! Sorry about the weather and no hikes - seems winter is still hanging with us at least by me. The good news is we are this close to March!

Hey everyone, how goes? It's 6.06pm and I'm still at work so might as well do a check in since obviously no sunset run for me today. Saturday ended well as I had my 200 (well 220 to be exact)-calorie dinner and it was fine and I met the diet portion of the goal, even though I didn't meet the exercise one. Yesterday, on the other hand, was a total bust. But today has been good. I'm more than on track with food, even though I didn't exercise. I wake up at the crack of dawn to work out and then instead curl in bed with a book reading and pretending to have a lie in when REALLY I didn't set my alarm extra early for that. I thought I'd be able to make it up this evening but I'm still here so obviously not. We'll see if I can walk the corridors at home and make some fitness magic happen.

Jenni: I totally get the pacing at home thing. I do it too. The good thing is that because it's a straight shot and I know it so well, I can often catch up on Instagram or YouTube or even some reading whilst pacing. I'm trying to get back into doing something with weights too. I'm thinking of doing a 100 pushups/200 squats- esque sort of challenge program first before going back to New Rules of Lifting but I'm not sure. I don't know if I mentioned anything about the low-carb resources you offered before, but yes please, I'm interested. It's disgustingly hot here (high today was 91F with 80% humidity... it's gone past and the sun is setting and it's still around 86) in an I'm melting way. We're doing this energy-saving thing in my office where we ration the airconditioning and spend part (or what feels like most) of the day on a solar generator that doesn't carry the airconditioning and so we're using fans. Yeah... doing absolutely nothing but circulating hot air. It was nice this morning though (in the 70s), felt positively chilly and I should have gone running instead of getting back into bed. Here's to tomorrow.

Lemonthyme: I get the old lady feeling in my bones especially my knees from doing the "walk at home" type workout DVDs. I find those harder on my knees than running. I've given up on Winter Olympics watching too mostly because they're never showing anything I want to watch. That said, if I competed, I'd love to be graceful enough for figure skating but I'm not. I'm the one zigging in a dance class when everyone is zagging- let's just call me "The Choreographer's Nightmare- not awesomely bad enough to be hopeless, but giving the choreographer false hope that I'm "not that bad" and I'm "teachable" and "can learn and get better"). A real aspiration would be maybe speed skating but more realistically, to be honest, I'm a curler, aren't I? I actually admire the X Games-type athletes the most, but I didn't come to this world to snap my neck purposefully taking a dive off a cliff with skis on for sport. Nuh-uh! The 7-mine workout looks good. I'll try it out next time I've procrastinated myself out of a longer work out (so probably tomorrow, but hopefully not). What are you (planning on) planting this year other than tomatoes? What did you plant last year? Here's hoping your expected ice storm is not that bad.

Uber: That's so cool that you write! I read quite a lot- it's my sane and happy place. Mostly fiction and nothing particularly "worthy" but still, my favourite thing in the world. I admire people who make that escape possible for people like me. When is Paris? With the way the scale victories are going, it's entirely possible that you'll have nothing to worry out regarding the seatbelts. Yay 250s!

Diane: Yayyy good weigh in!!! I hope you had a relaxing (and warm) weekend. Sometimes (okay all the time) a lazy weekend is welcome.

Okay all, I hope you're all having a great day. My goals for the evening are to reach 5000 steps and to eat within calories. I have an overnight trip tomorrow into Wednesday but I'm coming into work for most of the day first so I'll try to check in in the am. God bless!

I need food planning help for dinners! I’m struggling and wanting to eat pasta and cheese nightly - I’m not because I’m out of cheese and pasta on it’s own is not doing it for me. Haha. It just adds to my scale. I’m bored with my recipes and what I’ve been making - that said do any of you ladies have go to websites for recipes and inspiration? I’m trying to keep dinner between 300-400 calories a serving. Breakfast I keep simple and lunch kind of goes by the wayside because I first eat usually at 11.

So help a chick out - what or where do you go? Ideally I’d like to be able to dinner plan for two weeks (can I do this easily when I feel so much in a rut?) I’m attempting to peruse Pinterest however if I see one more pin for cauliflower crust pizza I may just gag and give up.

I also should add my DH is a picky eater; my kids are open to trying, we aren’t a smoothie family and no one really leaps at seafood or fish in this house.

Thank you all!

Really now, I think it’s just fine my kids go to school as it will help that but it’s been canceled again due to weather (ice). They already have inservice days this week so no school that was planned. Let’s just say the whole scale thing will probably be a disappointment for me.

And on top of it someplace along the line maybe tom might find me, it’s only about a month late from when I was expecting it. So it’s making me a tad grumbly as well.

Today I have given up on the scale. It happens and I’ll think my way through again and FINALLY get back on track. I’ve been floundering about of late. Yes a tad frustrated and I’m acknowledging that I’ve been bad about staying on task.

On a different note have any of you heard about the earthquake swarms near Yellowstone? So I did a google search to see what happens if that finally blows its top. Let’s just say no one would be prepared (except preppers I’d guess) for such and it reads as all speculation but going off previous eruptions in the 1800s for an idea of what ifs. I just find it interesting they make little blips of it in the news but never much more than the constant “it’s swarming”. Let’s just say it’s an interesting read and potential for loss and destruction is huge. Now of course when I was in grade school they kept talking about potential ice ages in my adult life (of course maybe that was just my teachers - some of them were gloomy and doomy types) coming back - so I guess you just keep motoring on.

Yes I read up on strange subjects.

Toasted: did you get your walk in at all? Your heat and lack of air sounds horrible. Sometimes being in an enclosed building w lousy air conditioning makes it worse because the term STIFLING comes to mind. I suppose you could always put the bucket of ice In Front of your fan to keep it cooler. I was told once that’s a poor mans air conditioner by a young at heart old chap. And for your reading - sometimes it’s nice to dive into a book and want to stay there!

Uber: when do you leave for your trip? Is your daughter in Paris or is she in a smaller city? Have either of you been there before? Have a pastry and coffee for me as you sit in a cafe.

Lil: how’s the healing going? When do you return to work?

Laurie: how’s the vegan eating going? Maybe you’ll find your best spot on eating that works wonders for you and doesn’t give you the fluctuations you are running into.

Diane: does your DH spring hunt? I was listening to my FIL who’s gearing up for spring turkey season. Those are such ugly birds and totally freak me out when you see them sitting in trees - something unnatural looking about such a large bird roosting and when you have 10-12 in a tree it makes you scratch your head. Do you pull a tag too and hunt alongside or just keep company and him fed?

Jenni: how were your travels for work? Did your meal/snack prep help you out? Do you find you sometimes have troubles when your kids are home all day when you are with your eating? That has been one of my side struggles of late.

Hello all!

Am: so yes my scale is high, no I’m not changing my tickers as I hope this is short lived. I do travel this weekend and that can always be hit or miss w keeping on task. And I think I’ll go down to the basement and move the totes that are in my way and try to get a walk in. I’ve talked long enough about it and have got nothing finished - so the phrase “just do it” comes to mind. I can always work on this totes later, it’s just clearing them out of my walking way. I have good intentions. I just haven’t been hitting them.

So help me out with some meal ideas or good websites that have recipes for me to peruse from my request earlier. I just totally feel in a rut - boredom, some sadness - you name it the winter blues have set in for me. I need some direction, change and something to look forward to. Sure my plants are growing and I’m looking forward to spring but right now it all seems so far away.

Happy day all!

Good Morning!

This Tuesday is my Monday as state employment has one serious perk…lots of holidays. Sadly, the 3-day weekend was not the healthy, productive kind. I have 1 underdress modified – sleeves were too tight and neck was too high – now it’s a sleeveless smock. I have all the fabric for my coat I’m making washed and ironed and ready to cut out – I’m thinking 3 days to get it wearable, if the machine acts right…been having some problems. I have SO MUCH TO DO and only ONE weekend left! Hubby also sat on his laurels this weekend. At least when I was watching TV I was hand sewing. We still have a bed to modify and we need to get out tent out and check it over.  Also, finally went to church on Sunday and turned out that the “Valentine’s” Lunch was after church! And they have door prizes. We’re trying to get rid of stuff, so we grabbed cookies for ours instead of stuffed toys. The plan was to take them to work on Tuesday. Yeah. Not so much. Then there was Black Panther and a jumbo tub of popcorn. Because you have to have popcorn at a movie…you just do.

So today I’m back at work, feeling abundantly fat and lazy.

Uber – CONGRATS on your Whoosh! : Yes, airline travel sucks when you’re heavy. I remember being stuck in those seats for 10 hours to Rome. Hubby is a big boy too, so we booked two seats by themselves, hoping we’d crowd only each other and it was miserable. If I had any money, I’d never fly coach again. On the way back the plane was not full at all and we got 4 seats to the two of us…it was glorious! I didn’t realize you were an author! What do you write?

Toasted – 6k is 5 k more than I would run. Heck, it’s 6 k more to be honest. Running and me…well, lets just say if there’s a zombie apocalypse I’ll be one of the first to go. Even slow zombies can catch me. LOL

Jenni – My husband and I saved for years to make that trip and then never got to Paris…but you know, I don’t mind a bit. I loved Italy so much I swear I’d do an “Under the Tuscan Sun” and just drop everything and move there…if I were rich. I’d still love to see Santorini and Greece and lots of other places besides. My dream vacay is to take a whole month and just start at Milan and drive zig-zag across Italy all the way to the bottom of Sicily and back again. GO! Even if you have to credit card it. You only live once. (and buy travel insurance. It saved our behinds!)

Lemon – I went back to work last Tuesday! While walking has been put on hiatus lately for no reason other than laziness, hubby had a lot of problems with his knees. He now wears compression braces and they help a lot. I don’t know what you’d do for other joints. I’ve never done chia seeds. They belong smeared on ceramic heads, not in my food. I like overnight oatmeal – but here’s the thing – it sucks cold! Microwave it! It’s a whole different ballgame hot. Regarding Dinners, do you crock-pot at all? I end up with lots of stews and soups and such in the winter and they’re pretty easy to keep under on calories. I try not to think about the fact that Yellowstone is pretty much a super-volcano ready to blow any time. There are too many extinction level events that could happen to spend my time worrying about. LOL

Diane - : Keep up the good work!!! You inspire me.

And BOY do I need inspiration. You’d think that all the loose medieval gowns now being too tight would do the trick, but instead I just swap them to under-dresses and make loose ones to go over the top. What a doofus I am. I HAVE to get back on track. It seems that when I get deadlines like this upcoming vacay – food and exercise are the first things to get shoved on the back burner. I’m going to have to reflect upon that more when I have time.

Lil: isn’t italy magical? I found Florence most interesting and the ligouri region. Venice was a tad confusing but an interesting place to people watch. I loved all the glass making. We had the chance to go to burano which for centuries was known for their lace making. Sadly most of their young people have left. This little isle is also known for each home being colorful so hat the fishermen husbands could see their home from sea. I’d love to go back, two weeks was not enough (except for my budget, then it was too much). I had a neighbor lady who’s DH passed a year into retirement. She said GO. Whenever you think you’d like to travel and do things as a couple GO. She said we were always going to wait until retirement. She said I lost him, we never went but for one trip - evennif money is tight she said make the time to do things together.

Am: my outlook is a smidge better but not great in regards to diet. I think I’ll try my best the rest of the week and then start in earnest Monday next week. Kids will be back to school (I hope), the fridge filled (also a hope) and my totes MOVED and my walkway cleared. I hope that my hips are in agreement for walking again. They tend to flare up and tell me forget it when I walk for exercise.

Oh and lil: yes I use the crockpot but of late have not been using it. By the time dinner rolls around I’ve been all of a sudden hit with the I don’t know’s or lack of interest. In fact th other night it was just DH and I and I wasn’t hungry and sat with some homemade salsa and chips for dinner. Tell me that was good for me?!

Update: the walking path is cleared! I repeat my walking path is cleared so I’m hopeful once the youngest does a lay down for the afternoon I can attempt to walk today. I might as well start somewhere.

My kids are driving me bonkers - even if they are playing nice. I have one that wants to keep eating and it’s getting to be a pain as this child is normally the one that grazes in smaller doses today it’s a full out onslaught!

I’m escaping here but just for the moment.

I have my iPod loaded, charged and on. Once the youngest is down then I’m going to the basement. My goal is 45 mins - whether I can get that done or not without issue is my next hurdle but I will try and report back how it goes and how far I managed. Sometimes I can surprise myself, will see if today is that day. I will make sure I’ve got on a short sleeve t, my water jug in tow and a good attitude. I can do this!

Lemon: I may not be a lot of help on the dinner ideas, but I really like the "Allrecipes.com" website. I have gone there for ideas, but I can't say I've gone for ideas targeting healthy options. I usually go when I'm looking for something to do with a certain cut of meat, or need a dessert idea, etc. But I'm sure they have a section of healthy recipes. It is just an easy website to use. Oh, and we don't spring hunt. I do like turkey meat, but we just never have hunted them. I do draw a hunting tag and carry a gun. I'm not a hard core hunter, but I would shoot if I saw one!!

Toasted: You know, they say that 80% of weight loss is from your diet, so if you have to choose one area to be on track with, it is good that it is your food plan! So, there you go! You're winning! Oh, and on the air conditioning issue, I would wonder just how much they are saving if everyone has fans. Add to that, how hard it is to work when you're miserably hot, and I'll bet the production level is low!! Oh well, hope it gets better!

Lilion: Did you like the Black Panther movie? I've heard mixed reviews on it. Gotta love that popcorn, too!!! I hope you can get all of your stuff done for your event. It has been quite the past few months for you. I'm sure the time just went by so fast and here you are, scrambling to get done!!

Jen: Dang it!!! I hate it when that happens!!

As for me, I was down .2 pounds this morning. I was on track yesterday with food, but it was close. I had some fairly rich foods, but tried very hard to keep it in check. So, under the calorie goal, but still felt a little bloated last night. The weather was kind of nasty this morning, so I didn't go to the gym, but I'm planning to go there tonight after work. I didn't want to miss working out today. I'll probably go to the Body Pump class. Tomorrow will be spin.

I walked for 25 mins 1.46 miles 3053 steps my iPod died, and kept shuffling the same song so it was a tad distracted walk but did it. So did my DD for part of it. Hah! Tomorrow I hope to get the full time done. Will make sure all is charged.

Well I’m working my way back down - getting sick on the journey is never a help unless it can guarantee weight loss. Hah!

I am in my T-shirt and leggings and as soon as the kids get on the bus I’ll go walk. This time I am aiming to get all 45 mins in. The iPod is charged and the songs won’t repeat and just play on through. That was a pain to go find to change. But it’s more user error that I haven’t been using it often if late. And I’m trying to keep the IF going. I admit that’s been a stumbling block the last few days.

I just needed to throw my weight out the window and proclaim to the world I’m trying again, slow as it may go.

And before I forget I’m recalibrating my iPod to capture the correct info as I walk as I had forgotten to change my weight so there may be a bit of difference with calories.

Toasted: did you get your steps in? You have long days of late. And they sound horribly humid hot- the type I hide out in my air conditioning all day and night. Like July and August for me. I hope you find some reprieve soon.

Diane: thanks about reminding me of all recipes. Some days I just feel like I am bored with everything. I don’t like making the same thing in and out each week so that’s part of my predictament and I’m out of meat in the freezer except for a beef heart, some round steak and ground pork (yuck). And my fridge is low too which is what happens right before payday. And things I grew up eating my DH won’t eat so I’m always looking for something a bit different.

Jenni: I hate when that happens! Hopefully today goes better or type elsewhere and cut/paste. I’ve don’t that too when I’ve lost too many.

Lil: we were to go see a movie but then read the reviews and said maybe it’s better for dvd and the sad thing is I can’t recall what movie it was! Hah! Plus we were both hacking so bad it would have been miserable for everyone around us. Have you seen shape of water? That one intrigues me just a bit in a campy 50s way.

Hello ladies!

Off to get kids ready today. More as the day goes along. May weight just vanish for each of you.

Happy day all!

I walked my 45 mins and got 2.# miles in. Doesn’t sound like a lot. Well I moved and that’s what is important. However instead of my hip saying hello I have a pain right under the cheeker. So I’ll have to figure out what I irritated and take my ibuprofen and get on with it.

Hope you all have a good day!

Good Morning Ladies!

I heartily agree with the Allrecipes.com recommendation. If I had any disposable income I’d be a paying member. I actually have a recipe published on there – Skillet Zucchini. I’ve submitted others that they accepted, but they never did get them published. I think they just got so big they never had time.

Diane: Black Panther was AWESOME. Of course, I say that about all the Marvel movies. Make that the Avengers Marvel, not the X-men Marvel. X-men have so many continuity errors it ruins them for me. But Black Panther was a great stand-alone film. Noble hero. Tragic, not-really-evil villain. STRONG female characters. Just really a good mix and well done.

Lemon – you sound like you maybe need to go shopping, lol. What on earth does one do with a beef heart? That’s not one I ever ate…even growing up on a farm and raising our own cattle, mom never cooked any beef innards but liver. Wish we lived close – I could certainly do with getting rid of some venison. Chicken too at the moment, since there was a sale and hubby bought 9 or 12 lbs of boneless breasts. I currently have venison roast with potato and carrots in the crockpot. I have not seen the shape of water but I agree with you – I want to see it, just not enough to go to the movies. I’ll wait for TV. Good for you on the walking! My basement is entirely too full of crapola to ever get that done.

So…went home filled with ambition to get my coat for Gulf Wars done. I cut it out, I cut out the lining, I pinned it together, I sat down and…my machine won’t sew!!! I’M SO PISSED OFF! My poor husband got to hear a lot of and and being screamed from the sewing room. For a while now it’s been “slipping”. That is to say that the handwheel will loosen, like you’re winding a bobbin (when you aren’t) and the needle will stop moving. It happened in the past on very heavy fabric. I tried leather the other day and it sewed beautifully, until I stopped and wound a bobbin, then it wouldn’t hold again. So, I figured, leather is out. Moved on to the coat. EVEN THAT won’t hold now. AND…when I got it to work better, now the thread breaks every time I try to back stitch! It’s a very old (1960 - 1963, so old like ME!) Singer 500A, also called the “Rocketeer” or “Slant-O-Matic”. It’s a FANTASTIC machine…solid metal, solid gears - I've literally sewed thru so many layers of denim that I couldn't lower the presser foot! But, now I don’t know what’s wrong and can’t fix it. Into the shop it goes – AFTER Gulf, as the repair guy has a 3 week backlog! I can try to use my Europro, but it’s been in the cupboard for at least 5 years and hasn’t been used, so if it isn’t gummed up…well, that’s anyone’s guess. Just in case, a lady from church is loaning me her second machine – she quilts, so hopefully hers will stand up to the heavy fabric. All those sewing machines and I can’t finish ONE project. Bah.

Got on the scale this A.M. and was not pleased. 273.5. So…up two lbs in 3 weeks. Which, when you think about it, really isn’t bad…but it’s still the wrong way. So…back to MFP and tracking my calories. Overeating HAS to stop.

And that’s it for now!
