I've just been bouncing back and forth, and didn't realize how long it has been since I weighed in. I did notice that I bounce up every time I skip my weigh ins.

Lurch Mama, here's hoping that you never get another one of those calls, or any of us for that matter. Can't imagine it, being afraid, each time the phone rings.

Bookmark, I agree it would be nice for someone to dole out the food for us. That's how it was when I was in the hospital. They brought all three balanced meals at the same time every day. And even though it was hospital food, I looked forward to it.

Happy Thanksgiving to All! Don't eat too much, now, ya hear???

I'm afraid to weigh tomorrow!

Scotsgal- Don't fret. You have just hit a little plateau. I'm positive things will start trending downward any day! Keep the faith, and most importantly, keep working at it!

Bookmark- I think with determination you (and your cat!) can enter 2017 strong! I think 190 is very doable between now and Jan 1st! Keep slogging forward. Slogging burns calories, don't ya know...

Carol Sue- It's not only when the phone rings. It's always wondering if it's going to ring. It's terrible. I think your scale is trying to tell you it would like you to check in on a daily basis...

My cousin and I were texting today and we are going to try and meet somewhere in late 2017 and run a 5k. She says it's 3.1 miles. I got in my Jeep and drove 3.1 miles. Mercy! It seems like a loooong way to run without stopping. So, I've got my course measured out and I will start by walking it tomorrow! I've never in my life been able to run more than 1.5 miles without stopping. I wonder if I can do it? I'm determined to try....

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

LurchMomma you were right!!! Today I hit a new low, So not only did I drop that .9 I had mysteriously put on over night, but I lost 2.4 lbs over night last night to make me now .7 below my last low

I have been really really good this week and I need this low to keeping getting lower, you all know that feeling when you haven't been tempted by snacks or anything, and have been exercising, and see no scale results?

So I need to keep being positive and keep on track so that when I weigh in next wednesday I can honestly say that I am still losing weight

Happy post to all who celebrated, and happy Friday to all

It's overcast and chilly here with expected tomorrow. Thanksgiving eating this year was very reasonable. I had small portions of the things I liked and only had seconds on mashed potatoes. Potatoes are a particular weakness for me. My weight was stable at 208.6 this morning, so no gain for the holiday but I have leftovers aplenty!

Wednesday I went to the Benefit Brow Bar to have my brows waxed. Where I live Benefit sits inside of a Macy's department store so I browsed before and after my appointment. While I didn't buy it did make me think long and hard about the cute clothes I have in my closet that I dream of fitting into again one day. I'm working on some clothes related goals that I'd like to achieve in the next 6 months.

I'm a big college football (American) fan so I'll have that on the television as I do some major cleaning of my apartment.

@LurchMama: Sitting in front of a heat source in pajamas...that's my kind of Friday! In regards to the 5k you're thinking about. I'm a gal who was an avid and pretty good runner about 4 years back. I know all too well the attraction to wanting to "run it all without stopping", as I was firmly in this camp. What' I've realized is that this thinking provides me a great excuse not to get back out there. Many, many folks have completed marathons and more doing the run-walk method. While you may want or need to train to do the 3.1 miles, don't let all or nothing thinking stand in your way. You got this!

@Scotsgal: to you on your drop! Whether maintaining or losing, a positive attitude helps tremendously.

A blessed and peaceful Friday to all

Lurch Mamma, when I was younger, around 50ish, I used to walk 3 miles a day. Could NEVER do it today, but that's because I got out of the habit. I agree with Curvy that the run-walk method is preferrable, and I hear of many people who do that instead of trying to run the whole way. I also heard that walking, with burst of running in between is very helpful for fat burn. It's called Wind Sprints, I think. I'll be cheering you on!!

I swear I wrote back yesterday I swear I am losing my mind

Well this week has actually been really good! I have been trying my hardest to improve my macros so that my protein is higher than my Carbs. I just refuse to give up that sandwich thin for breakfast. I am learning though to have lunch without one. Today was attack of the 100g:

100g Cottage Cheese
100g Tuna
100g Beetroot
100g coldcuts
100g Greek yog

Lunch = Stuffed!

But it really helped out boosting my protein intake for today. I have also went on a nice 5,500 step walk which feels so much longer than it looks on my app, especially when its bloomin freezing outside and your face has turned to frost! I will need to keep my phone in my back pocket all day and hope that I can reach that 10,000 by tonight.

My weight yesterday crept up by .4 and now still up by .3, It is 100% sodium weight because I had soup the other day, and last night for some reason the rice I cooked (packet rice) was high in salt. Today I am flushing, I aim to have had 5 pints of water by the end of the day (which I measure in a Cup stolen from Buffalo Wild Wings ).

LurchMomma Completely understand the sodium battle, and thank you . The sound of sitting in flannel pyjamas in front of a fire sounds amazing! Tonight I will be having Dinner, going for a shower, putting on a facemask and just chilling with a hot chocolate all wrapped up in a blanket That is of course after I pull all the Christmas decorations out and find out what is broken and what is still alive from last year .

Curvy Well done on not gaining on Thursday, must of been really good! I am thinking of having my brows threaded before xmas, I have actually never touched my brows, they have never needed done before. I also have clothes goals, but they run along side my wedding goals. I want to be able to wear very nice evening gowns for both next year without looking like an ogre beside my mates wives and GF's. I saw one on Pinterest that was beautiful but it never said where it came from

Good morning

The and cold we had yesterday has given way to and clear skies. Still brisk but nothing out of the ordinary for the end of November.

Weight remains at 208.6.

@Scotsgal: It's no wonder that you've never touched your brows, they look fantastic. They have a nice shape and frame your face well. Maybe just going to have your brows trimmed and cleaned up a bit will do it for you. I'd definitely look into it if you're interested. Regarding clothes goals: you've set some excellent ones! I can't imagine anything more motivating than wanting to present yourself a certain way on your wedding day.

A big to Wannabehealthy and LurchMamma!

A wonderful Sunday to all!

Bah. Thanks for the supportive thoughts, guys. I'm still struggling. This whole year is feeling like a failure, but I've had a couple of good days again after a couple bad ones. Weight keeps going up BUT, I'm also suffering from lady bloating, so fingers crossed I can keep it together now.........I think 190 is still doable by year end. That's 16 pounds in five weeks...of course, 2 of those weeks are Christmas holidays.............I may end up giving up. But right now I'm really trying to stay determined to get my eating under control over the next three weeks. If I can do that, the momentum may carry me through.

And 40lbs have officially gone! (plus a half)

I am now 282.5

I still aim to get to 50lbs before Christmas which will be difficult but I will need to continue listening to the Grenade Podcasts, work on my 12 week workout from home, and keep my calories under 1350.

My Macros should be: Protein: 125g Carb: 110g and Fat: 40g
I like to think that I could have higher protein and lower carb intake.

There are 3 and a half weeks until Christmas, I need to make sure I stay focused.

Thank God the month is almost over. It's been a nightmare. I need to go back to tracking to see where this weight is coming from. So depressed right now.

In my defense, I started using a different scale a few days ago. I just weighed on my old scale and it still has me at 204, so the bump up is due to the new scale. I am still going to go forward with the new scale, and consider that that is my real weight.

Glad to see that other are doing so well! Kudos to those who are doing what they are supposed to be doing! I AM smiling for you, through my tears.

Ever notice when you decide to get serious, complications arise? My throat is so sore I can barely swallow saliva. Now my hands and feet are burning, as well. DH went and bought me some chicken and rice soup and some chloraseptic. I'm in the same pajamas I put on at 3am Monday after arriving home from work and showering. Ugh. Gonna try and get in the shower and at least put on clean pajamas. Congrats Scotsgal! Hang in there Carol Sue! Don't be discouraged. There is always a difference between scales. Bookmark, keep up the positive thinking! You can do it1 Hi Curvy!

I'm heading for the shower and for tea with honey afterward. I wonder why my hands and feet are burning? Sigh.....

Hang in there, Carol Sue - In the big picture, you're not far up from where you started the month. That can come off quickly. Patience! ...although I know it's hard.

Feel better, Lurchmama! No clue about the hands and feet thing...

Congrats, Scotsgal, keep it up!

I had a pretty good day. It was sooooooooo cold, I didn't want to get out of my car an extra time to get to the gym, especially as I'd left my gym bag in the car and my gear was awful to get into, but I did and put in a half hour speedy walk at least........might be time to invest in a home machine of some sort...food's been good, today as well. Tomorrow is payday, which will be a test - hoping I can tough it out.

Good Morning Everyone!

This morning I weighed in at 281.6 I have lost like 4.6 in a week (some of that is holiday weight) but I am still surprised, I am scared to come off of course and eat something off track Today is pay day so I need to make sure that I write out a shopping list that keeps me on track with a high protein diet. I am just 1.6 away from that first big goal! The last time I was here was back in 2010, I had spent 6 months at the gym trying to look great for a girls holiday and during that holiday I put on like 8 lbs (then instead of working it off I gave up). So this will be a great achievement for me .

I started a weight training workout that is 12 weeks long, it is meant to start in the gym (but I homeified it) My arms are still killing from Mondays workout Today is legs, so wish me luck on trying to peel myself onto and off of the toilet after the workout.

CarolSue Maybe the tracking is keeping you on track better than you thought, I know that I can do a day, maybe 2 without tracking, but anymore than that I always gain. I just realised that as you were talking about your scale, I have a manual scale that goes up to 280, soon I will be able to step of that again without thinking Ill break it But my new scale is very cool, it gave me odd numbers at first as well, but now it is very trustworthy. I hope thinks start to turn around for you also.

LurchMomma I know exactly what you mean, I am terrified of getting a cold or something right now because I have a good stretch until Christmas and I really want to get as much off as possible, but I am that person that attracts stuff to go wrong. Just get up, shower, try everything that will make you feel better and once you feel ok to move, get moving. Try not go off diet, or even use the cold to get in lots of low calorie soups. I really hope you feel better soon.

Bookmark Our Winter so far has actually been quite good in the sense that its not driving rain and wind (west coast Scotland) it has just been freezing! So I know how difficult it is to have the motivation to just get out and do it, well done for winning the fight with yourself. Last night I did the same, the dog hadn't been out all day and I only had 2000 steps recorded, so I went out along the beach to add another 4-5000 steps. My face was bright red with the cold when I got in. Let hope that we can always win the fight with ourselves to get out and get it done.

Scotsgal, My old scale is a balance beam scale, like they have in the doctor's office. DH checks it periodically with weights to make sure it's calibrated and it is very close to my weight at my 2 doctors. I really like it. But recently I got a used scale at Goodwill that measures body fat % and body water %. So the new scale isn't really new, just new to me. It weighs me 2 lbs more than the old scale, so I am not sure which is correct. I have a doctor's appointment in December so I will see what I weigh there. I usually weigh around 1 lbs more due to clothing. I am beginning to think that the old scale is correct, but I enjoy seeing those fat and water %. I think eventually the novelty of that will wear off and I will lose interest. I think in the future I will just continue to use the old scale weight as my official weight and use the newer scale just to see those %. I have always heard that you should use the same scale at the same time of the day, because whether the weight is right or not, it still shows if you gained or lost, and that is your main concern.

Isn't that something how leg muscle pain can be so debilitating? After I had surgery, we got a new toilet and we got one of those extra high ones. I am so used to that now, that when I do use the one downstairs, it feels like I'm sitting so low and it's hard to get up and down. I really need those leg exercises though, to keep me mobile as I age.

Lurchmama, I am so sorry to hear that you are sick. I really hate getting a cold because now that I'm older, it just hangs on forever. All I want to do is vegetate and eat carbs. LOL I hope you feel better soon.

Bookmark, I complained about the heat and humidity all summer, now I'm complaining about the cold. And winter isn't even here yet. I'm glad I'm retired and don't have to go out unless I want to. I have equipment at home and I like the convenience, but it's so easy to beg off. You have to make yourself do it.

I wonder if Rennie is going to come back and start a new thread?
