Wink I decided on my final goal weight.

I decided on my final goal weight and changed my weight ticker. I was going to wait until I got close to my gw but decided to go ahead and change it. Does this sound like to low of weight? I hope I am able to maintain that weight.

Total Weight Loss: - 58.2 Lbs

How did you come up with that number? I am 5"4" and my goal weight is 145 which is 5 pounds under normal BMI. I have lost almost 70 pounds and I weigh 153 so I am very close.
I am hourglass shaped so I don't feel fat anymore- the rest is vanity pounds

MollyW on Your weight loss! I weighed around 132 after high school. I just have to see if I can maintain that weight. I do weight lifting and count calories. But with being older I might have to change the weight if it's to hard to maintain. My sister who is 6 years younger who has a similar body shape and same height weighs around 132. Good Luck with Your weight loss.

I don't think that's too low at all. It's right in the middle of the clinically normal weight range.

Penny105 I decided to stick with the 132 Lbs for goal weight. I'm going to see if I can maintain it. If not I will add 3 Lbs and go for 135 Lbs. Good Luck, on Your weight loss goal.

I blindly chose 150 because while it's still "overweight" for my height, it's lower than I've been since high school and seems vaguely do-able. I doubt I could get lower with all the extra skin I'll have at that point.

I chose 175 because I remember how great I looked at that weight. I had my lean mass and fat tested and learned I had 133 pounds of lean mass. That is pretty high. When I get to 175, I will revisit my goal, but from where I am at 235 it looks both attainable and realistic. I think those are two great words to use when creating a strategy for success.

"Attainable."

"Realistic."

I have to agree with you, Tuesday, that those are two GREAT words. I personally don't know yet what number on the scale will fit those two criteria, so I'm currently just concentrating on getting under 200. The numbers others have posted --- 150 and 132, for instance --- sound like they fit those very good rules of thumb.

General questions: once you've picked your end goal weight, do you still break it up into smaller chunks with numbers on the scale closer to where you are right now? Do you do anything special when you achieve those intermediate goals?

Thank you Winter. Getting under 230, reaching 200, being a resident of onederland; they are all huge milestones for me. I have gained and lost hundreds of pounds in my lifetime and I am just starting to see that it is about taking baby steps. Baby steps one right after the other, forgiving yourself for indiscretions, and working each day to keep heading in the right direction. This journey is so different for each person, but I think it boils down to:
"Do What It Takes=Have What You Want"
Keeping my focus and avoiding my old habits is the hardest part for me. I have a few weight tracking apps on my ipad that I use everyday to hold myself accountable. I think this site will add a lot also. Anything I am doing that does not involve my bad habits is a baby step in the right direction. Like you, I am new to 3FC. Are you interested in being a weight loss buddy? I like the forums, but I get lost in so much information at once. It would be really nice to connect with one or two people for support.
