Do you use a food scale?

When I was seriously dieting and counting calories I used one religiously. One thing that I found out about myself is that I did not have a clue what a normal portion size is. The first time I measured out a portion size I was shocked. I would have doubled if not tripled the amount.

I really should be using one but I don't...at least not yet! Once I can afford to get one, I will. :)

I did when I used Weight Watchers, but not anymore and I don't really ever want to again. Seriously, if I want 35 grams of raisins, I don't want to be obsessing over getting to 28 grams, because that's an ounce.

Now that I think about it, it must've looked so ridiculous sometimes -- taking a sliver of food off the scale, placing an extra chip on it, etc. to get to the right weight.

I hope I never go back to that.

I have OXO Good Grips kitchen scale that I really like... highly recommend it... it was a bit pricey, but I used one of those 20% Off coupons from Bed, Bath, & Beyond and picked it up there...

I truly believe using a using a kitchen scale pretty consistently is what helped me to lose 60 lbs and keep it off so far... I still use it everyday.... Like I said... Highly recommend it...

Everyday. The only thing I don't weigh is vegetables. But, I don't take slivers off of things, I get in the ball park so I know what is really going into my mouth. It's only a tool, I don't obsess over that scale, but it keeps accountable. I weigh all my salad dressings, meats, and snacks.

I'm tracking points, so yes I use a scale each day. After 7 months, I am still having trouble with determining a true portion. Although, I did learn that with some things I've been counting too many points. When I eat steak (typically Ny strip) even though I trim it before we cook it, and it's a trim cut to begin with... I shred and pick through steak and only eat the middle (weird I know). So, I weigh it before and after now, and only count the points I truly ate. My 8oz ny strip quickly became an actual 4.5-5 oz steak.
