Books!! One of my favorite things in the world! I love, love, love Nora Roberts (have you read the books under J. D. Robb?--awesome). I love James Patterson, Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, and Maggie Shayne for murder and mayhem. Laurell K. Hamilton and Anne Rice for vampires and faires. LOL, I've become hooked on the Harlequin Blaze line of books for my summer reading. Pure unadulterated sex, sex, sex-LOL! Fits my motto: If ya ain't getting it, read about it!!

Just finished Memoirs of a Geisha and Order of the Phoneix. Both were very good. But the adult in me preffered Memoirs the book just held me where with HP I felt like I was back exploring familiar territory.

For the mystery fans I must suggest The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. The series is on its 4th book and it is really wonderful.

Right now I am starting in on some African folklore and finishing up Empty Without You: The Intimate Letters of Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok. You want to talk about romantic. I firmly believe that only 2 women could write this well to one another.

Loved "Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson. Currently reading "Fire & Ice" by Clive Cussler. Fast paced. Just discovered amazon.com.

Miss Chris: _Memoirs of a Geisha_ is awesome!

We just bought the new Harry Potter last night to read on our vacation coming up. A lot of adults read these books, so noone needs to apologize! If anyone asks, just tell them you are a Children's author and are doing some research. :)

I like some of the John Irving books - but he's so inconsistant. I highly recommend _A Prayer for Owen Meany_ for those who haven't read it. Amazing and lots of fun.

Hey anyone want a really fun children's author to read? Louis Sachar. The recent movie Holes was just the tip of the iceberg. I fell in love with the Wayside School books.

I'm a mystery fan here, too. Just finished Faye Kellerman's latest. I also love re-reading all my Agatha Christies. Love the Inspector Morse books, and bring a couple home with me every time I go to England. I love to discover people I've never read before, and then try to get thru their books in the order they were written. Edna Buchanan is another favorite of mine, and Linda Barnes, and Marcia Muller, and.......ok, ok I'll stop.

I just finished the Hobbit by Tolken and I am reading the two towers now. Already read Lord of the rings. These are great books. I've really enjoyed them.

Did you all know that Microsoft is giving away free ebooks that are on the bestseller list. They are doing it through November to try and get people interested in reading ebooks. I love reading on my PDA. It's so much nicer than trying to carry around a big book and there is no need for a light in bed.

Here is the link all you have to do is download there free ereader and activate it which is also free.

The problem I have with reading is that I tend to graze simultaneously. Have to separate those two behaviors!

Miss Chris-- I agree about L. Sachar. Holes is MUCH darker than Sideways tales. I like Lois Lowry, and Robin McKinley and Gary Paulsen, too. (Did you know I was a children's librarian a ways back?

The most recent "discoveries" were Jodi Picoult... literary fiction with unusual themes and settings. An Amish Community, Two sets of parents whose children enter into a suicide pact. Beautifully written, I think.

Lovely fluff: Susan Elizabeth Phillips... funnier than Nora Roberts but move just as well.

AND the John Sanford Prey series... I really ought to be reading those now since they're set in MN where it is cool.

Hi,

My new reads are mystery/psychological suspense by Patricia Macdonald and Karen Rose. Yes, I read two books at once!
