Well, being on the Atkins woe, I can't live with out my suppliments. I have 2 different prot. shakes and the atkins bars. They are GREAT.

I also can't live with out having chicken, spam, bacon, cheese, and pepperoni. All I can eat and are easy to fix.

[list=1][*] Lowfat cottage cheese (protein fix for breakfast/snacks)[*] Little pretzel twists (when I want something to crunch)[*] Hard cooked eggs (another quick fix for breakfast/snacks)[*] Beef jerky (preferably home-made to control the salt) -- high protein low fat[*] Fruit, fruit, and more fruit[*] Veggies, veggies and more veggies[*] Pre-frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts[*] Steamed shellfish -- a lowfat treat when eating out, especially during crab season[*] Soup -- love it. Here are the things that help me the most-

Pria Bars- Just 110 calories and sweet enough to make me feel like I've splurged.

1 Quart Water Bottles- They make it easy to keep track of my water every day and make sure I get it all in.

Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine Meals- I have one every night for dinner and I can stay OP and not have to make myself a seperate meal every night.

String Cheese- A fast and easy protein snack and only 80 calories.

Balance Bars- I have one for breakfast every morning. I love them and they're a great and balanced breakfast for only 210 calories.

Tyson Pre-Cooked Honey Mustard Chicken Breasts- Just 130 calories and you pop them in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes and they're done. Perfect!

Does anyone ever watch Alton Jones on TVFN? His book gave a great idea for popcorn. Put 3 tablespoons popcorn kernels in a brown lunch bag. Fold the top closed and staple shut - exactly 2 staples at least 3" apart. This prevents sparking in the microwave. My sweetie, Mark, makes this for me every night. Sometimes adds some brown sugar to the bag before popping - yum!

Do you mena Alton Brown on Good Eats? If so I love his show. If not what show is he on?

My dad was a chef and he cooded turkeys in a paper bag. It turned out pretty good. You have to have a plain paper sack no writing. Oil the sack down with vegetable oil and then put your turkey in and seal it up. Let it cook the normal time. Made it real golden brown. My new favorite way to cook it is from Alton Browns show and the is to use a brine. You can get directions for it on Foodtv.com.

Goddess Jessica 08-06-2003 01:46 PM

Howie, I'm an Alton Brown fanatic! I tivo his show, have his book and brine EVERYTHING :). Brining rocks! I will never eat un-brined chicken again.

He's such a good chef!
