Hormone Imbalance, Peri-menopause, menopause or ?

  • As most of you know I battled an ear issue the end of last year that completely annihilated me. I saw THREE different ear specialist and I have a whole list of what is not wrong with me but there is still no definite answer to what caused my symptoms. In January they disappeared as fast as they appeared.

The past week some of the symptoms have begin to reaccure: Severe Headaches lasting 2-3 days, Sudden Fatigue, Brain Fog, Lightheaded, Feeling Detached and Spaced Out.

I am turning 47 in May and I am beginning to wonder if these sudden symptoms are a sign of a hormone imbalance, peri menopause or menopause? Does anyone have similar issues? What have you been diagnosis with? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated since I am starting night school in a week and can't afford to be sidelined again!
  • I am perimenopausal (also 47) and I blame hormones for absolutely everything. I have no words of wisdom for you but I understand the headaches, the fatigue, the brain fog (that is kind of a permanent thing for me right now). My weight loss has stalled, plateaued or whatever you want to call it and it is all because of hormones. I can lose 4 or 5 pounds and then as soon as TOM (very heavy, miserable TOM) arrives those 4 or 5 pounds are back. I have cut calories, added calories, worked out more, worked out less and I am stuck. Last year TOM came whenever it felt like it - 20 days, 60 days, but I was losing weight. Now it is regular as clockwork again and can't lose a pound.

Maybe someone will have some advice for us.
  • I understand where you are coming from Unicorn as you can see from my tickers I have kept off 35.4 pounds since 11/01/11. I lose 8-10 pounds a month and when my period comes on they are back. I gained 7 pounds since this past Friday, according to the scale this morning. Though I know that is not actual weight it is just because TOM is looming it still is very frustrating!! I did manage to make it down to 242 last year so I know it is possible but I really wonder if it will ever STAY OFF!

This new floatty, foggy, lightheaded, thing is really beginning to piss me off though! I off course have an illness you can't see so the doctors just all think I am crazy.
