"Motherhood Suits You."

I'd been too busy and exhausted to make this post, but here I finally am a couple of weeks later! ;)

Hubby took me to see Frozen on December 10th (I'm a certified Disney junkie). We hit one of the resorts for the theater, and walked around the casino to see the Christmas decorations before heading to the movie. I found I needed to take it easy and slow down, but didn't give the pains much thought because I was still 9 days away from my due date and I'd already been having Braxton-hicks contractions. We settled into the theater and enjoyed the movie, and the pains honestly didn't seem like a big deal until we reached the end credits and I stood up. I could barely walk! Uh-oh. :o I made it as far as the restroom and asked the hubby how far away the car was. He ended up walking me to the nearest exit where I could sit down, and he ran off to get to the parking garage (with security scolding him for running!) so he could pick me up at the door. A lady at the nearby ice cream parlor saw me doubled-over and came out to check on me, and sent security out to stay with me until the hubby arrived. When I explained what was happening, the guy laughed and exclaimed that the guy running through the casino must have been my hubby. ;) Anyway, he arrived, I was able to walk out, and by the time I got into the car and was comfortable enough to check on my contractions they were 2-3 minutes apart.

They were staying at 2 minutes apart by the time we got to the hospital, but since my water had not yet broken they were considering sending me home! Luckily it broke while being examined. I was in labor for about 14 hours and had what seemed to be a relatively easy delivery. We were blessed with a beautiful and healthy baby boy on December 11th.

This is my first baby so much of this is new to me! I spent the next week feeling exhausted but figured it was just new mommy territory, but eventually realized I had a growing infection when I woke up with a horrible fever and ended up in Urgent Care. I was diagnosed with postpartum endometritis and got some pain meds and some antibiotics to clear things up.

I've barely had the time and energy to think about eating right, but I've definitely made an effort to cut down on the holiday splurging. I've also set a goal to really get back on track with food by the first of the year, and have marked my 6 week PP date in my fitness journal so I know when I can start swimming again. I'd like to re-start C25K again by March 5th, which will be 12 weeks PP, and the second anniversary of my fitness reboot that allowed me to lose so much weight in 2012 before I got pregnant this March.

I think I did pretty well, weight-wise. I gained about 23 pounds for the pregnancy, and currently have to lose about 15 to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. :goodscale

Some of you know I miscarried my first pregnancy in early 2012, and wanting a healthy pregnancy was the catalyst to get back on track that March. :( I reached my lowest weight ever this past March, just as I found out I was pregnant again! I love my little guy and am really looking forward to what this new year will bring. :)

Oh, and as a bonus, here is a photo of us on Christmas Eve night when he was nearly 2 weeks old.

As I sat here last night rocking the little one, my hubby remarked that, "Motherhood suits you." Yeah, I think it does. :^:
