Oh you ladies and guys are the best! Thank you for your support! Because I really have done most of my life alone, I can't express how wonderful it is to receive support.

My weight loss has been successful this time -- in large part -- because I finally admitted I needed help and came to this group. So, feel the support. Know that the stall will eventually go away. And realize and accept that you may even see a pound or two bump during this time. Just stick with it......you will get there!
Thank you! Thank you for the support, for the words of advice, and for the reminder that I'm not alone.

FWIW, I always stall out or even go back up by a couple of pounds right before a big whoosh.
You're so sweet, thank you!
Fingers-crossed there is a big whoosh headed my way!

You are totally right. I realized tonight I really must have two modes: weight loss or maintenance. I'm so glad I finally came around to this way of thinking. My goal is to lose, but just because my body is taking some time does NOT mean I need to drop everything and bus-it to the bakery. There are other options, there is more to life, and the patience will pay off... so I'll stick right to plan and figure out weight loss/maintenance/scale liberation day by day. Thank you!

I think I finally entered the 250s for real! However, the scale is still moving very slowly. If my weight loss were in a contest with a snail, the mollusk would be cheering me on from the finish line. I'm still keeping at it, but I really want things to perk up. Does anyone have ideas for what I can do or how to increase calories efficiently? I upped my intake two days ago, and that seems to have helped. I admit I feel nervous about knowing how many more calories are sufficient vs. too much to aid weight loss.

I also had a terrible situation come to head last night, and feel absolutely deflated and depressed today. I just want to be held and to feel loved. sigh.
I hope one day soon I will look back on this time in a better light and from a better place.

Anyhow.. about the calories... does anyone have experience with this or other ideas on what can be done?

How many calories are you eating? What sort of exercise are you doing?

When I weighed around 250, it seemed like no matter what I did I couldn't lose. I would cheer if I lost a full pound in a week's time, because there were times that it took me over two weeks to lose a pound. Even when I KNEW that I was eating at a deficit.

You can do it hun! Sometimes it helps to increase your exercise or vary it to different types. I do strength training every other day and ride the stationary bike and it keeps my weight loss from stalling most of the time. Though I have to admit I totally just broke a big stall the other day. I was drinking TONS of water and finally lost the water weight.

Thanks ladies!
I do full-body strength training twice a week. Also, I am definitely eating at a deficit. I wondered if it was too low, which brought me to increase my calories in the first place. I guess I will see the effect of that tomorrow and perhaps the next day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The other possibility is that I got the mirena IUD inserted a few weeks ago and my weight may have started stalling around then. I hope to god it's not this. I have every intention of losing weight and I will have to get damn creative if need be. I'd like the process to be straight-forward, though.
