Sitting here wearing my new jeans

Size 16!! Yippee! :cb:

I haven't gotten into a size 16 since about 1991 when I weighed 180. The jeans are tight around the waist so I may not wear them all day, but, hey, I got 'em up and zipped and that's an accomplishment. I was wearing a size 22W in the fall so it's nice to be wearing a "regular" size now.

Clothing size is definitely weird (I know we discussed this once). I bought a pair of size 16 Cherokee shorts from Target and can't even pull them up all the way, but these Old Navy jeans are going on okay except buttoning them is a touch difficult.

They should be easier to button in about a week, especially if I start working the abs more. I'm taking my measurements on Sunday--will be interested to see if I've lost inches in the past two months since I started weight training.

Yay for Sheila! :spin:

And clothing size are weird. I am currently in an 18. I have one pair of 18 jeans that fit me fine and one pair that I can't even pull up over my behind.

Congrats, Sheila!!!!! What an accomplishment! You go, girl! :D

Yay, Sheila-I'm really happy for you....

I weigh the same as you, and could never get a sixteen over my hips/thighs...lovely inheritance from Russian grandmothers on both sides! My waist and stomach, and top half are much smaller. I hate being built so weird. True pear shape! When i find pants to fit my hips/thighs, the waist is like five inches too big! I've thought of attempting a size 20 jeans, but don't think they'll fit yet.

Congrats,
Sherry

Yaaaay!! That is soooooo exciting. I'm dying to get into an 18, let alone 16. I *shiver* when I think about buying 16's, LMAO. Congrats. -Apryl

Sheila - that is amazing! I'm starting to try on old clothes and am having some happy results. It's much more fun than that darned scale, I'll tell ya!

Great job Sheila!!! I can't wait to get into a size that doesn't start with a "2" or have an "x" in it. Congrats.

I LOVE that feeling. The one that is SOOO wonderful when that denim slides easily over the thighs and rear end to meet nicely around the waist! It is especially wonderful when the same pair could only be buttoned when laying flat on the bed with both knees up just a short time ago! I CAN NOT wait!

mthrgoos68 06-16-2003 06:23 PM

That's so great!! You should be so proud of yourself!!

Does anyone else find that as you get down in size, it takes longer to get into a smaller size? I'm still losing weight at the same rate that I have been, but it seems like in the beginning I was going down a size about every 3 weeks or so and now it's taken a long time to go from an 18 to a 16, and it's taking a really long time to get into a 14. I'm not even close to getting my 14's on. Is this true for anyone else, or is it just me?

MikiG 06-16-2003 09:08 PM

Sheila, how cool! I love that feeling also. Much better than seeing the scale move even.

Mthrgoose...down a size every 3 weeks or so??:p I've gone down only 2 sizes and it has taken me over 6 months and 42 lbs to do it!!:dizzy: Isnt it weird how that is? I see people who say they've lost 9 lbs and 2 dress sizes and I want to hit them. (just kidding but I AM jealous of them)

I got disgusted this weekend trying to shop for clothes. My 18's are feeling a bit baggy but the 16's are still too tight for comfort. Why cant there be a size 17?? lol

Miki - I've always been that way, too. At first, it's 20 or 25 lbs. to move down a size, then eventually it's only 10 lbs. or so to move a size. I think for me it's because when I'm really heavy, I'm squeezing myself into things just so I don't have to go up to the magic number of size 20. I wonder how awful I must have looked though, squishing my 242 lb. be-hind into a size 18!

woo hoo Sheila!! I know I did a happy dance around the dressing room when I found out I could fit into size 20 old navy jeans - they are my FAVORITE pair now. They are always a little tight fresh out of the dryer -but after wearing them all day they get looser :)
