Vanity Sizing NSV and I don't care!!
 

Inspired by another thread, I had my every-3-week fashion show early in my closet this afternoon.

When I started a new job back in 1999 (wow, that seems so long ago!), my mom bought me a dress that was a 14W. It's black and then the top chest/arms are red with some scrolly design incorporating the red and black together. It was one of my first "corporate" dresses that I had, my mom wanted me to look professional compared to the things that I might have picked out! And I always got so many compliments on that dress. (How do moms know those things??)

So today, I'm looking for something red to wear tomorrow for Valentine's Day.:val1::val1::val1: I said to myself, at least next year I can wear that dress! I hope I am a 14 by then. Sigh.

So then I get this brilliant idea (!?!?). I decide to try it on and see how much more I need to go. I figured the worst part that could happen is I get myself stuck in it and as long as I don't strangle myself, I could wait for my DH to get home tonight to rescue me.

Guess what!??!?! It fits!!! I could wear it tomorrow if I want to!!! It's a little out of style for me now as I don't have a corporate job anymore but I can't believe I still have it, that it fits and that I could get it on and off!!

The tag says 14W and I'm going with it!! Now that I track my sizes and progress with clothes measurements, there is no way this could be a true 14W but I don't care!!

I think the even bigger surprise is if I show my mom that I still have it and I can still wear it!!!

Thank you all!! I think I am going to wear it tomorrow, even though we aren't going out for "amateur love night" lol. I'm too old to wait 2 hours for a table, esp. when I can't really eat out since it's off plan anyways! Maybe I'll go to the pub with my husband and ask him to get a little dressy too and we can look fancy while he drinks a beer and I drink club soda!

I totally get that. You probably looked at that dress for years going, "I probably will never be that small again. Sigh..." and look at you!!! Soon, you'll be putting it aside forever as it will be too big for you!!!!
