my scale ****

I need some advice! I had a scale that I dusted off recently. The scale isn't that old but it's been giving me different weights. One minute I'm 255 and the next I'm 247. I would literally check myself 3 or 4 times in a row and get a difference of about 5lbs. So I thought the scale was broken and went out and got another one. I'm finding that this scale gives me different weights as well, around 245-247. I discovered that it may in fact be my bathroom floor that's uneven.

Anyway...which do I believe and keep-- the new scale that says I'm 245 or do get my money back and keep the old scale which says I'm 250?

Take the new one back and rely on the old one, but put it on a level surface. Mine is in the carpeted bedroom (the bathroom is too tiny) and it's on a piece of plywood that is just an inch or so bigger all around than the scale. If you still think the results are erratic, go rebuy the new scale. I'd try the plywood under the old scale first. If I move my scale from room to room, where there are different thicknesses of carpet, I can get as much as a 20 pound difference. The thicker the carpet, the less I weigh!

I should totally move my scale onto carpet then!

I would keep the old scale but see if you can calibrate it.

It doesn't matter if you're 245 or 250. You're probably not either of those if you got on a medical scale. You just need a consistent reading to help you track downward progress! Get those scales on a level surface and keep going.

I was thinking the same thing!

Stronger4me, do you have any other place that you can put the scale where the flooring seems more flat?
