Emotional eating
I am looking for strategies to deal with emotional eating.....would love any insight or ways that you cope with it. The good news is that I recognize that I do it, but still have trouble getting a handle on it.

Hi!
I too am an emotional eater. I think what has helped me is to try and realize what I am putting into my body and ask myself if it is harming me or not, for example being aware of overeating during a mini binge and then stopping it. Perhaps you can try and ask yourself: Am I truly hungry or do I need something else instead (like talking to a friend, taking a few deep breaths, going for a walk, etc) What are some coping skills you can use to help you out? Here is a list of coping techniques I came across: -exercise -listening to music -breathing exercises -meditation -stretching -talking out problems -taking a walk -planning ahead -organizing a task -take a drive -television -movies -read a book -taking a nap -changing the environment -taking a vacation -nutrition -developing a positive attitude -take a break -creative visualization -take a nice long bath and a few of mine, -watch a funny movie and -color or doodle I hope this helps!!! Wow! Great list, Seabiscuit! May I just second the exercise suggestion? I love to belt out emotional songs very loudly as I walk down the street. And I am much less likely to mindlessly eat after exercise.
