Default A Brief Introduction

I'm new to the forum! A lot of questions I've asked google about weight loss have ultimately brought me here, so I figured it was time to register an account to say hello to everyone.

Twice before I have tried in vain to lose weight - the first time, in 2010, I lost 30 lbs before relapsing and gaining it all back. The second time I barely lost 10 lbs before falling to the same fate. So one week ago was my third "Week 1" - and I weighed in at 265 lbs. At this very second, I weigh 255 lbs for a total of -10lbs in a week; my best week ever!

I have three things in my favor this time that I didn't have the others.
1) The knowledge I gained from keeping a detailed journal the first time through.
2) I'm attending college more than three hours' drive upstate, which means I'm not living with my parents who I love but who have been enablers of the worst kind.
3) I've adopted a Low-Carb diet, with comes with a great deal more structure than I had in either of my first two attempts.

Hopefully I'll add a fourth factor in my favor by getting to know all the wonderful ladies and gents on this forum. It's great to think there is an entire group of people out there who will understand when I complain about the anxiety/excitement/impatience/small triumphs/slip-ups that come with trying to loose more than 100lbs.

Glad you could join us. This place is great! If I am having a hard day or night, I will come on here and just read success stories and look at the before and after pictures and it helps me get through the hard times. I look forward to seeing your post in the future.

WElcome aboard the board!!! You'll find lots of great ideas & support here, as well as a kick in the pants if you need it I'm one of those nutty people who advocates digging around in your brain for WHY you got so big in the first place, I know that was what saved me. Figuring out the "why" can make the losing a lot easier; why we got big, why we give up after 30 pounds or whatever. Mine wasn't scary, no abuse or horror in my past, just a life-long love affair with being a SPOILED BRAT and once that dawned on me, I could discipline her and move forward. Otherwise, I always fear no matter HOW much weight I lost in the future, she'd always pop up at some time and ruin it all.

Just a thought!

Welcome. You'll find that we're a great bunch! Lots of cumulative knowledge. Tons of support. It's great once it all clicks into place. Good luck. It sounds like you have a handle on things this time.

Welcome!

I had three false starts since Christmas -- I gained 6 pounds.

The only thing different this time is joining this board and I have lost over 5 pounds!! It really has helped me to know that I will be posting here and getting support!!
