Mini Goal Rewards

  • So I've set up my mini weight loss goals in 5% intervals. For each one I reach I am placing that amount of money ($5.00 for 5%, $10.00 for 10%, etc) in a special savings account I opened that I have named "Belinda's Booty". Once I have reached my 100 pounds lost I am going to spend the money on new clothes.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has some sort of reward system set up for themselves, and what sort of rewards you have chosen.
  • I love that idea. =D Now you won't be scavenging for money when you hit your goal. I usually set up little presents to myself every 10 pounds. Things like a new pair of pants, music for my ipod, haircut/color. My big reward for reaching my goal is a vacation to visit my friend in July(already have ticket), a bikini, and another tattoo
  • I've decided to start doing a reward every month. For each pound I lose, I get to spend $10 toward my wardrobe. So, if I lose 6 pounds, I get $60.

It works two-fold -- I always mean to buy clothes for myself and never do and it gives me something to look forward to earning!
  • I haven't really done any rewards, except for one: last November, when I had lost about 50 pounds, I treated myself to a new cat by taking in a little stray I found in my yard. I totally adore her, so it worked out well for both of us.

I find myself losing steam lately so maybe I'll try something. I like your ideas about money for clothes.
  • I like to do "outings" as rewards... 10 lbs lost we went out to one of my favorite restaurants and 25 lbs we went and did sporting clay shooting.

for 40 lbs we are doing indoor skydiving, then real skydiving for 50 lbs lost! then a theme park for 65 lbs lost and that will be onederland!
  • 25 lbs lost I bought a new shirt, 40 lbs lost I bought myself a new digital camera, for 50 lbs lost I'm thinking of buying myself a new pair of shoes, 75 lbs lost is going to be a new mattress and 100 pounds lost is going to be going to Cedar Point. Beyond that is just a reward in itself.

I really like the idea of saving up money for a new wardrobe once I reach my goal weight.

    Oh wow, LOVE THAT!
  • Well, a year from now I want to spend a week in Key West, Florida. I want to fly down. BUT I must be close to goal. I must be able to sit in an airline seat comfortably. I need to be able to walk for hours!!! All I must do is be true to myself and it will happen.
  • Thanks for all the replies and the great inspiration and ideas!
  • I dangled a HUGE reward in front of myself - I fantasized about buying 1 carat diamond earrings when I got to my goal of 100 pounds (100 points for 100 pounds was my logic.) Then I decide to quit at 90 pounds but thought it was still an OK reward. Then I came to my senses and realized there was no way I could justify that sort of expense, so I bought a beautiful set of knitting needles instead! LOL.

Maybe I'll do the earring thing if I keep within 5 pounds of my goal for 5 years.

  • I am like Jessica. I give myself $10 for every lb lost. But, I put the money in a large glass jar every week. I love seeing the jar fill up.

The plan was to buy new clothes with it, but who knows????
  • I've been doing rewards every 25 pounds and, since I left my job to do this, my mom's helped with it. I didn't start until after I'd gotten under 300. My first one was 275, and I got a really nice cover for my Kindle. My second one was 250, and I got some clothes. I think I'm going to skip 225 and go right to 200; that one'll be a name change, so it's a little more expensive. When I got divorced, I didn't bother changing my name back because changing everything at work all over again seemed too daunting. Four years later, I'm sick of having a last name that isn't mine. I'm also not fond of my maiden name, so I'll likely pick some other family name and go with that. I'd really like to change my first name, but that'd hurt my mom, so I won't.

I don't know what I'll do for 175. I might not do anything. Or maybe more clothes. For 150, I'm thinking about a tattoo, but permanent things make me hesitate. Of course, then it'd always be a reminder to stay on the path, so there is that.
  • I'm about to get my first reward. A haircut for getting to Onderland. (Hopefully any day now!) I'm going to start rewarding myself every ten pounds after that. I'm looking at 190 -- massage, 180 -- gym membership, 170 -- ??, 160 -- ??, 150 -- teeth whitening, and 140 -- new wardrobe.

I did just buy myself a nice new pair of jeans that will probably fit perfectly in about seven pounds, but I consider that at least equal parts necessity and reward. I almost lost my pants stretching to reach something on the top shelf at the grocery store the other day, so I decided the new jeans thing really couldn't wait too much longer.
