I'm cold ALL the time. Cold to the bone type of cold. I drink hot tea like crazy, wear 2+ layers at all time, take HOT showers and baths like no ones business, have space heaters blasting in my office and my craft room at home (and the thermostat is up at 70 indoors regardless). My hands and toes are pretty much always frigid, but the rest of me does get comfortable when I do all of the above.
Sadly, it does not get better, or at least it hasn't for me yet. I started getting cold at about 50 pounds of weight loss. I am still on restricted calories and I think I just don't eat enough for my body to "spare" calories to generate heat combined with 36+ years of having lots of extra layers of fat, it just doesn't know how to regulate itself now. I am hoping that after some time at maintenance weight and calories my body will figure out what to do with itself. I am really tired of being uncomfortable all the time. |
Thanks all!! It's so great to hear everyone's experiences, especially when they make mine start to make sense!!

Freezing here too! Thought I'd have to do the space heater thing, but what has saved me was buying vests -- I've never worn vests before in my life! I can't stand sweaters because they *never* fit me right, always hanging down over my hands. Vests = comfortable, except for ice-block hands, but that seems to come and go. Am really hoping this eventually passes!

Yes. Cold. I'm the one who eschews socks and winter coats. I'd say....I go from my house to the car to the office and vice versa. Why WEAR my coat? And, of course, you know when I'm outside for any length of time (dog walking) YES, I wear a coat. Not so since I started losing weight. Cold, lots and often.
What you must do is get warm. Put on a space heater directed right at you (I do this at work). At home, take a hot shower or bath and dress warmly afterwards. Use a blanket on the couch. Get a herbal pellet bag that you heat in the microwave and put it under a blanket with you. VACUUM - I swear when I vacuum my body temp rises. It is because of the reduced calories - calories are needed to regulate your body temp and b/c we're cutting back our bodies are fighting back. Sometimes, we do need to eat a little more. I've found that if I'm freezing and feeling slightly unwell, a cup of tea with with milk and a slice of toast can make the difference. The bottom line is.....do something to get warm. It isn't healthy to be cold for lengths of time, and it sure isn't comfortable. |
