Starting over...In shock!

I don't even really know how to start this post. I was visiting here regularly for about a year. I didn't post too much, but I was getting support when I needed it and doing well. I had only lost about 20 lbs. but I felt great. This past spring my DH had surgery and since then we have been eating whatever. In March I weighed 245. Today, I replaced the batteries in my scale after being dead for months. I got on the scale thinking I had probably gained back the 20 lbs that I had lost. I gained that and over 20 more!!!! I can't BELIEVE I let myself get even BIGGER! I am at the highest weight of my ENTIRE non pregnancy life, and I am only 15lbs. Away from my highest pregnancy weight of 305. I have to start again, only this time I have to FINISH!

I'm sorry you had such a regain, it's a pretty easy thing to do if you're to being vigilant about your daily diet. The good news is that you're here now and this is entirely fixable. I look forward to you taking control of your weight and losing that regain and some of its' older friends.

You can do it, sweetie!

You can do it! Today is the first day of the rest of your life....
We are here every step of the way, even if it is an occasional step back.

Being fat is hard, losing weight is hard. Pick your hard.

Your already getting back on track. You acknoleged you've gained and you want to do something about it :) Baby steps. You will get back down to where you were, and then some. If I can make a recommendation, put away your scale for a month. Eat healthy, excerise, and after that month is up then weigh yourself :) Its way to easy to get descouraged with your plan when you don't see quick results. Good luck, and remember. YOU CAN DO THIS. :)

Thanks for the encouragement ladies. I am going to really try to not feel sorry for myself. I did it to myself and have no one else to blame. It is hard enough not seeing 200 for over 15 years, but I will NOT see 300 cross my scales. The first thing I am going to change is eating late at night. I have been eating a fourth meal around 10pm for months. No wonder I have gotten so big. Oh well, nuttin to it but to do it right. :-) No Christmas cookies for me this year. It's really a very good thing I put those batteries in and pulled my head out of the sand, if I had eaten through the holidays I would have hit 300 for sure.

Thanks baker. I do think that now that I know just how much I gained, I will put up the scales for a month or so.

Welcome back. You just took the first (most important) step back to getting healthy.

You lost weight before and you know what you have to do to make this work for you, so I'm saying this with caution - being off the scale (dead battery) caused you to lose track of what was really happening with your weight. Perhaps a weekly check in with the scale is a good idea if you don't want to weigh yourself every day. A month seems like a long time to go without getting a reality check. But you know what works for you.

It sounds like you have a plan. Eliminating the 4th meal is a great place to start. Catching yourself before you fall too far is another good idea. You put the brakes on your unhealthy behavior and now is the new beginning. good luck.
