I'm Back ....

and not a minute too soon.
I've been away and have gained weight - again :(.

I woke up this morning and figured today is as good a day as any to change my food habits, weight, and life.

Who would have ever thought that I (a supreme sugar addict ) would choose the holidays to make over my attitude about food - and Christmas.
I'm actually looking forward to this December and Christmas, because for once in a long, long time I'm not dreading all the food and out of control eating & binging. I compulsively eat so much during the Holidays that I go to bed just about every night actually ill and nauseated because I will eat sugary foods to the complete exclusion of any thing else.

I'm simply not going to bake 100's of cookies, dozens of sweet breads and pounds of candy this year.
The excuse that I make every year to feed my weight problem and sugar addition, is that the sweet stuff is to be given as gifts (of course I end up eating most of it myself by January 2 ).

My plan is -
A sensible lower carb & high protein 1400 - 1700 calories a day
Some sort of daily exercise - even if it's only for 15 minutes
A monthly photo
Weekly weighing
A daily affirmation and try to check into 3FC once a day unless I'm away.

Wish me luck :carrot:

Hi Susie, welcome back. You can beat the sugar beast, but it will be hard with all of the temptations of the Holiday season...

I'm assuming that you are a Christian since you say that you celebrate Christmas, so hopefully I am not offending you when I tell you about the sermon we had in church today. It kind of gave me a new perspective of "Christmas".

The Pastor said, (and I'm paraphrasing here), "Today is the first day of Advent, it's not the 1st day of the Christmas season. The Christmas "season" starts on December 25th. Christmas Day is the start of the Christmas season. All days leading up to Christmas is the Advent season...a time of preparation. It's about getting ready for the event that is Christmas. He said there is no need to feast, and party and spend days upon days prior to Christmas celebrating the event, because it hasn't happened yet. This is a time to Prepare."

I think that if you look at it this sort of way, and take this time to prepare yourself for that one day that is Christmas, and take that ONE day to rejoice and celebrate, then you got this in the bag.

Anyway, anytime I want to gorge myself and use the excuse that it's "Christmas time", I'm going to TRY to remember that on Christmas day I will celebrate, but all days leading up to I will prepare.

I wish you success in your days to come. :)

Lori, thanks for sharing the message from your pastor---it is a great way to think of this season.

SusieMartin - welcome aboard.
Lori - great thoughts about Advent and Christmas. I'm going to keep them in mind.
Droop - a kilogram is 2.2 pounds. Multiply kilos by 2.2 to get pounds. Divide pounds by 2.2 to get kilos. There are several people in here doing Dukan. You might want to start a new thread about Dukan and see who responds.

Hope everyone has a great week.

I really like this, Lori ~ very true, and I never thought about it that way before. It gives me a new perspective.
