I know how discouraging that feeling is, to think I left an old weight clear in the past, only to come back to it again. And again! Makes me angry and very discouraged! But usually, that emotion fuels my desire to get back on track. I'm having to use that fuel right now, because my post-holiday snacking has gotten the better of me!
I usually get into a funk when I've eaten food that's high in fat and sugar. Like the pecan pie I had at T-day, and the day after, and the day after that! Once I start on something like that, it's really hard to disconnect from it. So to achieve that, I usually take a day to just do a cleansing water fast. I start the night before, drinking a big glass of water before I go to bed. I know it's going to make me pee in the middle of the night, so after I go to the bathroom, I drink another glass of water. During the day, only water, sometimes with lemon. Later in the day, I might have some herbal tea. By dinner time, I feel all cleaned out and start back to eating with just vegetables and some fatty fish. Only a little olive oil and lemon to dress the veggies. I actually choose veggies that are a little on the bitter side, like greens, broccoli or Brussels sprouts. I eat enough to get full, but not stuffed. Before I go to be, more water. Usually I kick the desire for the funk-foods right out of me. So that's where I am at the moment, about to start a 24-hour fast. It's not that hard for me, but easier than just trying to stop eating pie and go back to having just an apple instead. |
