How much weight did you have to lose before you started noticing on yourself, others started noticing, or you noticed your clothes fitting differently. I am 5'8, 278 (down from 292) .... and haven't seen anything yet. I like to say losing 14 pounds is like taking a cup from the ocean - no difference when you are as much overweight as I am. But when do you think I might expect to see changes in myself or how my clothes fit?
Possibly another 10-15 pounds...but maybe less, maybe more. Everyone loses differently, and it depends on where the weight comes off. Just keep it up, and soon you'll be buying the next size down!
I've lost 11lbs (THIS time, sigh) and have found for the last 2lbs or so that I notice a difference in my super stretched trousers (less stretched) and my work shirt (now buttons, and in fact, buttons while sitting down!). I've also noticed a difference in energy and fitness - walked half an hour to an appointment yesterday ~ for fun!!!
OTOH, it's usually taken about 50lbs before anyone else notices, and even then it's usually a "isn't black slimming?" type comment!
It was over thirty pounds for me. I promise that as you lose weight it will take smaller losses to make a difference. It was really a struggle for me to stay with my program in the beginning because I just could not see a difference. It gets better!
Hi, Mandy. this topic resurfaces every so often. It's a good question, because we are all different, I think, and our perception of ourselves plays into it. Here area a couple threads you might want to read. I personally started to notice small things first. After about 15 pounds I noticed my pants were longer. What was happening, of course, isn't that the pants got longer or I got shorter, but that they hung a bit lower on my hips. At about 25 pounds my pants were more than a size too big. Now, 8 or 10 pounds easily makes a difference of a size in jeans. Welcome to the forum and good luck in your weight loss endeavors.
I'm at 35 down and folks are starting to notice. Around 30, I could see a difference in my face. I just saw pix from May, at my all time high, and I was surprised how much different I looked.
For me to go down a size I lost about 25lbs (around 215lbs). Others are starting to notice now with a 40lbs loss (at 200lbs) I think cause I'm down another size.
Honestly, it took me about 20ish lbs before I really noticed a change in how things felt, and about 25 before I went down a size.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "noticing" though. My brain still has not caught up to my body--when I see myself I almost think that I don't look any different, I have to look at my progress pictures to see that (though now, at almost 70 gone, I'm starting to "see" it more and more).
Once I lost about 40 lbs, people really started noticing, and now they notice even more about every 10 lbs (and I'm losing sizes more quickly as well).
I was shrinking but keeping the same proportions until I started lifting weights and working out with personal trainer; while you can't spot reduce, it's improved my posture and my core so it makes me look different in a way that's really noticeable, esp. from the side. I still have a belly and arms though. That's the first place I put on weight, it's been on their the longest, it's got the most fat on there, so it's just going to take longer to notice significant change in those spots I think.
20 pounds, and I got a smattering of comments. When I hit 35, I'm thinking they'll be a lot more, especially at work. You REALLY have to look different for co-workers to say anything.
i don't know when it started trickling that people noticed my weight loss but at close to 60 pounds lost everyone and their mother was saying something at work.
