Me and My little brother..

  • Well i decided to start losing weight bc well im sick of being fat.
Im 21 and im 289 lbs
I dieted for like a week but gave up because i didnt see any change.
Then my little brother who is 16 and weighs 342lbs decided to challenge me to see who can lose the most weight.

We bought a scale today and weighed ourselves our official weight are the ones posted above! :O

Hopefully knowing i have a partner thru this and knowing i have yall support. I can do this
  • You can do it! That's awesome you have your brother on your journey. I'm the only one whose actually on a healthy eating plan. I hear a lot of "I'm going to do it with you starting tomorrow." But, tomorrow comes and goes, I even offer to cook the meals I eat for them and others, but nope. But, every person must decide when they want to start their path. I'll continue to encourage and wait for them. =)

P.S. I see your from Texas. I am too! This heat is horrible though! Record temps here. Been 105-106 for almost a week. I'm soooooooo glad I'm not my old weight. I'd be dying walking around campus lugging a backpack, purse and study bags.
  • Its great when you have someone there to do it with you. It keeps you motivated. If you are a competitive person, like I am, I would use this to my advantage and work harder just so I can be the first to reach goal.

I am from Texas as well. Houston to be exact. This heat is crazy. My car temp wad 123 degrees yesterday. How crazy is that? I don't even like to wear shorts any more because my leather seats burn my legs.
  • Im from Houston also! lol .. Yes it does help that he's doing this with me.

ITS TOO HOT! ive been wanting to go outside and walk but everytime i step out i feel like ima melt. :S

Looking at youse ladies current weights yall are doing great! grats!
  • That's great that you have a partner! Good luck and stick around here for lots of encouragement along the way.
  • I'm from Houston too! Ha, small world! =)

I actually went for a run/jog on Sunday at a nature park and wowee my face was really red from the heat. Surprisingly, I wasn't feeling overly heated, but my body evidently felt the horrid heat more than I thought.

EEK! Shorts on hot car seat leather. OUCH.

I can't wait for fall to start. It's my favorite season and it does get beautiful here in the fall. =)
  • Glad to see you and brother working on weight loss!
What are you planning on doing to lose weight -- just so you know, there are plenty of plans available where you can EAT and lose weight! Diet and exercise are key -- tried and true!
    Good luck!
    Keep us posted!
  • How exciting to make it a competition between the two of you. You can help each other stay on track. Stick with it.
Texas people- Keep the hydration up. It sounds like you need it.
  • Good Luck! There's nothing wrong with a little "healthy" competition.
  • That is awesome! I just started about 2 months ago, so a couple words of advice...

    1) Do NOT give up if the scale stops moving. Just keep doing what you're doing and if it still doesn't move re-evaluate your plan. I saw a loss the first two weeks, then for 3 weeks after that it didn't move at all.

    2) If you try a weight loss plan and find that you don't like it, try a different one, do NOT give up!

Good luck to you! And feel free to ask any question on this board, I've found everyone to be super helpful and supportive!
  • great job and good luck!

But remember that you are not going to see a change in a week. That weight didn't come on in a week and it's not going to go in a week either. But hang in there and you WILL start to see changes.
  • That's awesome. Having someone IRL that you can do this with is great!!!

So what kind of plan are you going to do?

You can't give up after a week. In fact, you can't give up at all, ever. You need to change the way you are living your life. Unfortunately if you want to keep the weight off, long after you have lost the weight, you will still being doing the same things to keep the weight off. That is why I feel it is so important to construct a plan that you personally can live with. Create a plan that you can stick to every day. I made a 1 year commitment and it has made all the difference in the world.
  • I'm another Houstonian Had to chime in! Good luck!
  • The hardest step is taking that FIRST one! Congrats on making the decision to change your life for the better. We'll be here every single step of the way cheering you on
