There was this absolutely divine spinach and artichoke dip I used to get from Boston Pizza. They've removed it from their menu now, so I can't get at the info, but I looked it up a couple times in the past. I know it was well over 1000 calories for the dip and the tortilla chips that went with it, and nearly 100 grams of fat (I think)...keep in mind, this was just an appetizer! The burger that I got quite often is another 940 calories and 68g fat, and then there was the cheesecake - 600 calories, 32g fat.
Oh God, I feel sick just thinking about it. Over 2500 calories and nearly 200g fat in ONE MEAL! No wonder my heart would race and skip beats for five or six hours after a meal like that. *shudders* |
I would almost always rather eat at home now. If I am going to eat out, I pick a place that has their menu online with calorie info.

Oh my goodness yes. What a nightmare!
One word: Bojangles. As a native Southerner, I can't count the number of country ham biscuit combo breakfasts, or 2 piece combo lunches... not to mention the insanely addictive "BoBerry Biscuit" dessert temptation. Thank god I moved to LA, then to NYC, and escaped the magnetism of "The Bo". And don't even get me started on the Dairy Queen dipped cones. I was a wreck! |

To me it's really frustrating. Food doesn't have to be 2000 calories a meal to taste good, and yet that seems to be the formula that restaurants follow. More calories, bigger and bigger and BIGGER portions, etc.

I only ate out (and still do) at sit down restaurants for special occasions and while I'm sure those calorie counts are awful, they weren't often enough for me to cringe at, but I have eaten a lot of fast food in my time. My worst eating habits were in college, and three days a week I had tennis. Those days, I would stop on the way home and get an Ultimate Breakfast sandwich meal with a large coke plus another of the sandwiches and eat it all...that's 1823 calories! And to take it one step further, every couple weeks I would just get two of the whole meals and force it all down until I was sick (oh why?); while I didn't always finish the second soda, I usually drank most of it and that's a whopping 2606. Not to mention the sodium, fat...ugh.
Insane, no wonder I got so fat! And that wasn't even at my heaviest, I do wonder what in the world I was eating that put more weight on me than that! Thank goodness for the tennis beforehand or I'm sure my weight would've been worse. This is why I don't eat out anymore except for as a special treat or in a pinch. |
omgosh i used to eat these things that now that i think about it, i almost feel like throwing up.
i used to be (and still am) crazy about chocolate covered almonds. except i dont eat them anymore. i never paid attention to the fact that it was 8 chocolates for 220 calories. I used to eat almost the entire bag!!!! :S |
