I'm down 1.8 to 174.4. That makes up for yesterday being up a pound, but I don't know how long this will last since TOM is still trying to show up.

Angie - I don't know about B12, but the body can certainly do some strange things when we are losing weight. I know that back when I first started my anemia got worse even though I was still taking my iron pill and making sure to eat iron rich foods. The doc said it was normal for weight loss to cause funny things like that and raised my dosage. The human body is strange, amazing, but strange.

Arctic Mama - Yay for no lying tickers! Congrats!

I didn't bother checking the scale, woke up feeling less then great . . . a lot less.
My shins are sore too, so bizarre, i've never had sore shins, I can only figure its been from walking an extra 2 miles each day on concrete. . . . maybe time for new shoes?

My great sodium flush was an epic fail yesterday. 4,000mg fail. :yikes: I had no idea (until I looked it up after eating it) that the Subway turkey breast and ham, while low in calories, packs 2,000 mg of sodium. But, my win for the day was that I had a VBS planning dinner, ate before I went and didn't touch the pizza, hot dogs, soft pretzels or 3 kinds of homemade cheesecake (NYC theme.) I just drank my water and planned away without the food! :D

Starbrite - No worries on a little bounce! You'll be back down in no time. :)

Diana - I understand you on the sodium, for sure! Evil stuff, it is. Well, tasty and evil... hahaha!

Angie - TOM is a strange one isn't he? I am starting and this is only my second one in 3 years (babies!), it's doing some strange things to me, too.

FitGirly - Woohoo for a whoosh! Love that!

Rhonda - Good job on maintaining! That's a success!

Sept15 - Awesome job staying in your maintenance range, you rock it!

Coondocks - Walking on concrete for long periods always gives me shin splints for some reason, no matter how good my shoes are.

Madam - WTG on 20 lbs lost!! :carrot:

Ona - You're so close to goal, you must be able to taste it! Keep on fighting the good fight!

 to everyone else this morning. I hope you have a fantastic day!

17: 272.7 (+0.9)
18: 271.2 (-1.5)
19: 269.4 (-1.8) TOTAL LOST -13.2

Yahoo! :carrot: I'm very excited about this number! The fact that I'm back in the 260's is beyond exciting. Once again, 268 is my lowest weight in 4 years! I'm not quite sure if these numbers are going to stick around because last month - the following happened: big whoosh before TOM, big gain immediately following TOM, and then it took a few more days after that to get back to pre-TOM...and we're talking a 6/7lbs here...so... we'll see if it sticks because yes...TOM is RIGHT around the corner again! I'll be sad to see it go IF they do BUT...I believe I'm settling into a comfortable routine, I'm definitely OP (calories, water, exercise) WAY more days than I'm not and I think I've found the magic calorie range I need to be at - so those are ALL good things. :D

I REALLY like Rhonda's parting line so I'm going to borrow it! Have a great on-plan day everyone!

Matilda -- Woo! Nice loss over on part 1...jump over here okay! :D

Starbrite -- :D Don't sweat it. You're working so hard...keep it up!!

Diana -- Sodium is evil! Anyone know where we're supposed to be on daily sodium intake? One website I was on said 1500mg/day but MyFitnessPal says 2500mg/day. Is there an individuality to our numbers...like some of us react differently to sodium than others? :chin:

Angie -- Woo hoo! So happy you're back to 208! Not hungry?!?! I need a few of those days too! My TOM is also sneaking up. BOO!

Kiyo -- You CAN do it!!! :cb:

FitGirly -- Nice whoosh! Here's hoping it sticks...even with mean ol' TOM! :crossed: I'm hoping the same thing for myself! :crossed: :crossed::crossed: (You think that's enough finger crosses?)

Sept15 -- Hang in there! You're still showing a down trend!! :D

Coondocks -- You could be right...time for new shoes. Once shoes reach the end of their life, they tend to slap down from heel to toe a bit more which stresses that shin muscle...Have fun shopping!

MadameZombie -- Yahoo on 20lbs!!! You're doing great this month!! :dancer:

OnaMil -- Woo hoo!!! Great way to start the day!! ;)

Gale -- Holy moly! Honestly, the fact that you ONLY had 4000mg is a HUGE success! If you hadn't eaten before your meeting - you would have been way higher than that! Great job on planning ahead and avoiding the temptation. :cp:

Vixsin 05-19-2011 12:16 PM

Hi all.

I think I've entered another one of the famous Freakish Whoosh cycles. I'm down 1.4 to 190.4. I've revised my May goal to 189. It felt super ambitious in the beginning of the month because of how slow April was for loss but I feel ok adding 1 more pound now.

Nothing new on the drama at home except that I am now focused on making Maxwell feel better and finding time to do fun things with him. He has really been effected by this over these last 2 weeks since I have been busier than usual and more stressed out. He and I need a SEVERE dose of fun STAT!!!! I hate how this is bothering him. I am going to do a fun supper tonight and then we can work together to straighten out his playroom downstairs since my new treadmill (yes, the ONLY high point from last friday!) is there now. I think I am going to surprise him and pick him up from school and take him rollerskating tomorrow. He's been wanting to do that recently. I don't know. I just feel the need to focus on him to show him that we are ok.

hello everyone!

just dropping in real quick to relay my weigh in. up .2 to 268.7 but considering how i was well over on my sodium yesterday, i'm surprised it's only .2. haha.

hope everyone has a good day!

Rainbowgirl 05-19-2011 03:02 PM

1: 251.6 (damnit! 0.6 gained? Went for a 6 km hike yesterday burning 2731 calories and only ate 1400-1500 calories that day. I'm hoping it's just retention caused by dehydration b/c I didn't pack enough water, and because TOM is approaching. We'll see what it is tomorrow. I think I should step it up with the exercise now that I'm heading into my 3rd week.)
2: 252.2 - what the heck?! I really, really, hope this is just because maybe TOM is approaching (Im so irregular, I never really know until it arrives) - but I followed my plan yesterday, deviating only to get a McDonald's cone (150 calories) and I budgeted it for that, too. Not 100% sure why I've gained a pound and a bit back. Very annoying!
3: 252.6 TOM still not here, still getting intermittent symptoms that it's approaching but not here yet. Frustrated, but I know I haven't gone over my calorie budget so I cannot be gaining weight through that (I'm not eating high fat foods or low-nutritional value foods). Just have to persevere and wait.
4: 253.0 Ok, NOW I'm getting frustrated. I've been on a steady rise since Sunday and there's no reason for it. I'm sticking to my plan, I haven't deviated at all, TOM isn't here (yet), and I'm still GAINING. What the ****!? I'm starting to get uber discouraged. I can't go any lower in calories than I wan 1300-1400, and I can't go any higher b/c I'm sedentary for more than 8 hours a night thanks to work. I try to get in 20 minutes of exercise before work, but that doesn't always happen. So frustrated.. I'm doing everything right and I'm GAINING!
5:252.0 TOM finally appeared, sorta. Very light but we'll see how it goes. Hopefully when it's done I'll be out of the 250s; that sure would be nice especially since I've been so "good" and kept to my plan! Crappy day today, but I'll be hitting the treadmill at work on my lunch break like I did last night - watch some of the hockey game that way :carrot: Tonight will make 3 times this week exercising for 20 min. I'm proud ^_^
6: (didn't weigh)
7: (didn't weigh)
8: (didn't weigh)
9: (didn't weigh)
10: (didn't weigh)
11: 250.8 I went to my parent's house for several days (thursday until tuesday) and it's highly likely I gained some weight back because it's very hard to eat the way I need to there. Mom makes everything mostly home made, so figuring out calories is hard. I just tried to eat smaller meals and it seems to have paid off with not a huge gain. Though, not a huge loss either. *sigh* Back on track now.
12: 251.8 Ugh. Up again but it's understandable. Mom and I went to our favorite little Italian restaurant in Vancouver where the portions of spaghetti are massive and I just about ate the whole darn thing. I had water with dinner, so that's a plus I guess. Haven't had that spaghetti in months, either. Back on track today and even more so when mom goes home again lol
13: 251.0 meh, mom's still here so not eating well.
14: 252.0 *le sigh* I love my mom, but I can't wait for her to leave so I can get back to my routine. It's going to be super tough when she's down this summer selling corn (her summer job) and staying with me. Teeny 600 sq ft 1 bedroom basement and ALL of her crap. I had a 2 bedroom last year and it was a DISASTER all the time. She refuses to clean up after herself so I end up doing it all. I'm not looking forward to it. Even now, my living room/main room is a mess and it's mostly her stuff everywhere.
15: (didn't weigh).
16: 255.0 #%*%&#(@&(%)%!!!! I'm so mad; I regained 5 pounds for what? NOTHING! Trying to get back on track but finding it even harder than when I started!
17: 253.0 Ok, on a downward trend now. Let's hope there are no more hiccups soon.
18: 252.8 Weighed at the doctor's office today and it looked like 252-ish. Hopefully it was correct. Talked to my nurse practitioner (like a GP) about everything. She said I should be drinking twice as much water as I have been and to increase to 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week. Also, getting on the antidepressant for my moderate depression will help (she says) and that if the water retention doesn't get better in a few months of staying on track, to see her again. Told her my eating plan and what I generally eat and asked if she thought I needed a dietician but she said it sounds like I have it all under control, it's just a matter of sticking to it despite the rough patch. To be honest, I did go off the plan while my mom was in town and that no doubt contributed to the gain, so hopefully I can really stay strong. My parents want me to go up to their house next weekend because it's Nilla's (My dog's) 1st birthday. I think if I *do* go up, I'll have to bring my own food - or at least get my own food once I'm there so I'm not eating what they eat.
19:251.5 Woo! Heading back down! Did 30 minutes in the gym last night; 7 on treadmill, 7 on bike, and 15 on weights. Definitely feeling it today.

So, I hope you guys don't mind if I rant for a minute. :( I know this won't get much sympathy since you all go through it every single month but may I just say that TOM sucks! I started today, my first one since Dec 2009 and only my second one since Feb 2008... I forgot how icky it makes me feel. I feel like I've been hit by a mid-size truck, I'm so exhausted and dizzy and all around feeling blech. :( I don't feel like eating or even moving. Bed sounds delightful. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

/rant. Back to your regularly scheduled posting. :D

This sounds like a FABULOUS idea! Kids love suprise pickups and adventures. I think Mom could use a lil' rollerskating fun too though!
