Need support not weight loss related

My Father has been in the hosptial since Thursday he was in alot of pain, not eating, drinking, and confused they found out his potassium was low and kept focusing on that they thought he was in alot of pain from him having holes in his leg bone from the cancer he had last year and beat it. Well today they find out he has inflammation in his brain he is now sleeping all the time, cant talk well, has lost some hearing, plus all the above we still dont have answers as to why all this is going on they are gonna do another spinal tap tomorrow as they didnt get alot of spinal fluid. His immune system is also still weak from chemo last year and this worries me I live 7 hours away and I am not there yet I wanna be there for him and will be leaving Friday if things dont get better. I also dont understand why the VA Hosptial is dragging there feet about testing since he is this bad off it also took them almost 5 days to find the brain infection. I dont know what I would do if I lost my Daddy I dont understand why this has to happen to him he is such a great loving man. I just lost my Stepdad in October of last year I can not lose my Dad too. Thanks for listing I just had to get it all out and giving me great support all the time.

Hugs to you Ky30. It's very hard to watch a beloved parent struggling with cancer and other health concerns. I hope his spinal tap goes well tomorrow.

Ky- sending prayers your way. I'm so sorry this is happening to your daddy and your family. I too have been through the heartbreaking trials of having parents with cancer. I lost my sweet mom, dad and mother in law to cancer. My daddy and I were very close. After all these years I can still hear his voice telling me "Daddy loves you!!"
My best advice I can give you is get to him this week and give him hugs and love. Give him as much comfort as possible. It's ok to cry in front of him, he understands what is going on with him more than you realize. He knows you love him and will understand tears. He probably needs to have tears himself. Talk with him even if he is unresponsive. I believe our loved ones can hear us even if they are deeply under.

I'm sorry to hear about your father and I hope you all get some answers too. I know it's hard to be far away when a loved one is suffering. I will keep him and you in my thoughts.

:hug: I am so sorry that you are going through this. I can identify as I have an elderly parent with cancer in another state. It would be hard to go though this if you lived next door to your parents and the long distance makes it harder.
